Remember #endfathersday? A bunch of people from the /pol/ board of 4chan started that to show how easily these people could be manipulated. It caught on like wildfire and took a life of its own. You remember when I mentioned a 12 year old being doxxed in the cutty sark thread? Just because you're either uninformed or want to believe that "oppressed people" can't be oppressors (Israel says hi) doesn't mean there are truly bat shit crazy, violent people in the ranks of "feminism." The anonymity of the internet didn't only help make men more more violent.

Honestly I think these people are just privileged white people that feel guilty about being white and jump to any bandwagon that will help them relieve their guilt. Plus many are just legit trolls that think it's funny to harass and bully people and don't give a shit about feminism but will use the banner to garner support to harass people.

Quinspiracy: Username of Zoe Quinn. Term is also used to also refer to the merky stuff surrounding her, such as her very close relationships with journalists, chairs of award shows, employers and PR firms... shutting down of a charity event meant to show the skill and money-making ability of females in the gaming industry... and most recently, that the charities she claims to support and claims that her sale proceeds go to, iFred and National Suicide Prevention Hotline, have never worked out an arrangement from Quinn or her company, never received any donations from her and have never even heard from her.

GamerGate: Hashtag based around getting journalists to adhere to a more strict code of ethics.

NotYourShield: Hashtag used by minorities who are also in support of GamerGate and who wish to prove that GamerGate is not just being pushed by straight white cis males.

Gamers Are Dead: A series of about 10 articles published by 10 different game journalism sources within 24 hours of each other. To many, this is evidence that all these 'competing' sites are in collusion with each other.

Legobutts/Maya Kramer: Head of Silverstring Media, a PR company which is involved with journalism sites, indie development and indie game award ceremonies. This is where many people believe the "Gamers Are Dead" thing originated from, that it was an idea from Kramer and Co that they then spread out to gaming journalism sites in the same way that Activision would give everyone a press release on the latest Call of Duty and they ever site would write a piece on it. (Also of note, she doxxed The Fine Young Capitalists' Game Jam, a charity game jam 'competing' with Zoe's own game jam.)

TL;DR: Indie dev sleeps with a bunch of people. Whatever, no big deal. It would have died in a couple of days if not hours. Then it turns out the people this dev slept with were journalists who have given that dev favorable coverage, award chairs who had given that dev awards, and PR heads who essentially dictate the narrative driven by the sites they are involved with.

The games press refuses to report on this, claiming it's a non-issue, even when they'll easily report on lesser events with less evidence. They then started to censor discussion, focus the narrative in their favor (that is, make it about feminism and misogyny rather than about journalism and ethics), and ban users.

When this stopped working, they went along with the Gamers Are Dead line of articles, started to bemoan gamers publicly on twitter and other social media, and basically went out of their way to make all of their users their enemy.

This whole thing is less about how one person used her personal relationships to further her career and more about how detached gaming journalists are from their own audience. If this was still about just one person or even one journalistic site, it would have blown over weeks ago - it's the fact that more or less everyone is involved that has everyone angry for one reason or another.

You know what else is fucked up and uncalled for? Going around having sex with journalists to release biased information and to receive undeserved awards. If she's using sex to achieve her goals (no less than world domination, I would assume) then I think it's fair to scrutinize her in a sexual way. Also, isn't that kind of a no-no in the feminism biz?

Retro cut that shit the fuck out. There are bigger issues than literally who and her sex partners and your attitude isn't helping change anyone's mind. The whole baby and the bath water thing applies here in spades so just tone it down or don't say it at all please.

The issue has gone way beyond her and I for one would prefer she didn't get anymore attention out of all this to play into her victim complex.
