I can agree with that, it's not a loot game but the stages do at least very early seem to be about probing an area for something or some item and doing it again, which is fine. I think they do get a smidge cheap on the bosses if you're alone since they can keep respawning grunts and hide behind junk so you can't get at the shield/life much at all with the limited ammo you're packing. I've gotten fed up twice and just bullcharged a wizard and some other big walking tank before that once the ammo got low to end it which is not my style. I do like people are starting to show up randomly on the maps as you play, it can get you a little help.
I'm not sure how much of Russia I should do before I hit the moon, it's there. I'm thinking i'll just pace it out and go there after unless Russia is too extreme for someone not in a group.
Bungie's Destiny - Racketboy Meetups

Does the game feature some form of competitive multi-player, similar to Halo (8v8, 16v16, etc), or is it strictly co-op.

Yes, it has all that multiplayer stuff too - various modes, etc. like halo (if not quite as extensive at first blush)emwearz wrote:Does the game feature some form of competitive multi-player, similar to Halo (8v8, 16v16, etc), or is it strictly co-op.

I think that's fair, and to provide some context for my own thinking I've been playing a lot of Diablo III and Borderlands 2 over the past month, both of which are overflowing with loot…often to excess.Sload Soap wrote:And unlike some, I actually like that the game doesn't throw mountains of loot at you. I know Borderlands is kind of built on that but 95% of the stuff you pick up in those games is useless and gets chucked straight away. Destiny seems to give me stuff I might actually use.

Awesome, I own the game, just have not sunk an extreme amount of time in it. Does that open up at a certain level, etc?dsheinem wrote:Yes, it has all that multiplayer stuff too - various modes, etc. like halo (if not quite as extensive at first blush)emwearz wrote:Does the game feature some form of competitive multi-player, similar to Halo (8v8, 16v16, etc), or is it strictly co-op.

You can start doing Capture matches at level 6. Later on it opens up different modes. Much later on though.emwearz wrote: Awesome, I own the game, just have not sunk an extreme amount of time in it. Does that open up at a certain level, etc?
I've only done a few PvP matches and am still unsure about the balancing.

Just played a few hours with Dave, good fun.
Played competitive online as well, seems utterly messed up with people being competently OP.

Yep. I think the class powers might be too much for a PvP set up.emwearz wrote:Just played a few hours with Dave, good fun.
