I did it that way without watching the vid, still a pain to remove it, gb/c/a games come out so much easier

Edit: darn, the system doesn't like my repro of Tales of Phantasia

Alright! I tested out all of my Japanese games that have translation patches. Here are my results.

Works

Famicom
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Romancia
Ys

Super Famicom
Bahamut Lagoon
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon - Another Story
Dragon Quest V - Tenkuu no Hanayome
Dragon Quest VI - Maboroshi no Daichi
Final Fantasy V
Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust - Kieta Shoujo
Magic Knight Rayearth
Mystic Ark
Seiken Densetsu 3
Star Ocean
Tales of Phantasia
Ys IV - Mask of the Sun
Ys V - Ushinawareta Suna no Miyako Kefin

Game Boy Advance
Mother 1+2 (translates Mother ONLY)

Doesn't Work

Super Famicom
Brandish 2 - The Planet Buster (IPS patch fails to load no matter what - Romhacking.net has it listed as an IPS file but other sites say it's UPS???)
Der Langrisser (UPS format not yet supported by Retron 5)

I was lifting it straight up but it sounded like velcro coming apart... (edit: I also got mine for basically 135 with the trial discount from fye  )

edit: also I hate to say it but I might be taking my snes and nes to my dad's now that I have the retron...only problem is until I get a hd tv or a switch(with sound out, I'm really trying to do my research on it before just buying something  ) I won't be playing it with sound :(
Cancel that discount card right away. They are a pain to cancel and cost way too much monthly after the free month is over. But on the plus side their discount card works on new games and stuff on sale too. Just a warning as I use to manage an F.Y.E..

Well I didn't really sign up since all they got was a phone number....though would be nice if manafest would hurry up and begin accepting that card because then it would be worth it(since unbeknownst me they are fye and have some games and a small selection of anime movies)

2.0 BETA 4 firmware is out!

More changes -

- Added support for UPS patches
- SGB multi-player mode working (and Gameboy player/button mapping has been split from GBA in Settings)
- Fixed a bug in the IPS patcher which would cause some patches to fail
- Fixed regression in file manager
- Misc game compatibility fixes (King of Monsters)

So I'd be trying some of those patches that haven't been working. Someone on the FB post where this is also reported Megaman X is completely bug-free now, so whoever had the issue with Donkey Kong Country may want to try that again.

With UPS patching in place now, there is literally no need for repros with this thing, awesome. I messaged the Retron tech regarding DKC issues as well, and mentioned it'd be cool to have separate SRAM saves for patched games. He said that they are planning on adding that in future builds. This product just keeps getting better and better.

That would be amazing, though as a temp fix though it's probably not the one on everyone's mind why not use save states for patched games until it's added?

DKC isn't fixed. I was talking to the tech a little over an hour ago about a bunch of various things including some screwy bugs I had reported to me. He had told me my SMB2 case isn't isolated, said he has to get a SMB2 cart and figure it out but thinks its hardware like maybe the cart slot coming loose but no way to know without breaking it down.

DKC came up, said he would be looking into it after I mentioned the 15-20min it jitters, going into the menu fixes it for awhile. He says it should be a syncing error he can fix when it's found.

Interesting enough I got this tasty tidbit of info I wasn't aware of. While the MENU on the system uses Android, the emulators themselves tap the hardware directly and android is switched off. This is why the system itself has no input/delay lag versus something like Ouya and other Android emulators because it has to deal with the lag Android forces upon it.

Nice.

Should have waited one more day to test my games.

Brandish 2 and Der Langrisser shall be retested this evening.
