If I recall correctly, the Full Spectrum Warrior games are actually third person shooters.

If you want a Red Faction, do the first. RF2 isn't nearly as good in my opinion.

More people need to play Medal of Honor Airborne, though I hear it's really picky about what kinds of computers can run it. I've beaten it on PC, but every machine I ever tried it on managed to lag on particular levels.

The GOG release of Duke Nukem 3D is the Atomic Edition if I remember correctly. If you have access to it on Steam, I'd recommend checking out the Megaton Edition instead, as it includes Atomic Edition and the expansions like Duke It Out In DC and Life's a Beach.

I think you're right about the FSW games -- but I got them when they were on sale, and it was a good thing because they were removed from GOG on the 1st.

This new desktop should be able to run MoHA no problem.

The Riddick games are fantastic I thought, but do note that they are somewhat different. They can be very melee based and stealthy, but I really enjoyed that about it. They've even got some Deus Ex like areas with characters to talk to and stuff. Cool unique games.

The stealth element was what drew me to it (that, and the super low sale price on GOG, 2 games in 1 for $2.99! Plus none of that awful Tages DRM) I've played through the first 4 Splinter Cell games and I'd like to see some more of that style. I just installed it and it looks fantastic.

Glad to hear. The melee combat in Riddick is top notch and some of the weapons (especially in Dark Athena) were awesome. It's very rewarding and I preferred melee over guns whenever possible.

Those games definitely had a killer art direction going too. I played on the 360 but imagine they probably look even better on PC.

Far Cry 2 is a bit like the Drive of video games. It was marketed at the Fast and Furious/COD crowd but it's actually a ponderously slow and moody game that is punctuated with moments of extreme violence. That and there are endless long driving sections.

I thought it was (is) great but I know people who went it in thinking it's the next GTA/COD type game and were put off. I think that's how it ended up with the reputation it has anyway.

Yeah Riddick is pretty awesome so far. Splinter Cell style stealth and melee combat is a nice break from constant shooting. Plus all sorts of moves with the keyboard and mouse combinations. Intro was very Half-Life like. Side missions, dark environments (which look amazing), and lots of talking. Very different from a standard FPS, but one I want to get into a little more.

Chronicles of Riddick is great. I am not a huge FPS fan, but I adored that game. The emphasis on stealth makes it really fun, IMO, and it gets even more fun once you get your eyes "shined". I think of it as more of a first-person adventure game than a FPS because there isn't much shooting in it at all.

Yeah it sucks you can't pick up any guns right away because of the "DNA-encoded" status. BUT, you can break necks, gouge, cut, bludgeon and all that good stuff. But guns, therefore FPS, not FPGCB It's borderline but I like it.
