I tried a bunch of ips patches last night and was mostly successful. Here are the ones that worked:

Japanese to English patches:
Dragon Quest VI
Bahamut Lagoon
Feda Emblem of Justice
Final Fantasy 2
Final Fantasy 3
Super Bomberman 4
Super Bonk 2
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Dragon Ball Z 1 and 2 for Famicom

Also Graphical Enhancement patches:
Gradius 2 Famicom
Salamander Famicom

So far I am having trouble getting Dragon Quest V and Tales of Phantasia translation patches to work. I will try to see what I can do to fix them tonight.

Keep in mind that some games have more than one translation. If one patch fails another may work.

Here are three for DQV:

Two for Tales:

Awesome. I'll give this a go tomorrow to see if it helps.
Sure enough... After about 15 minutes of play time, it began to get jittery again. It actually started to hurt my eyes. After pulling up the menu and then returning to the game, it was smooth again. Interesting...

Anybody able to get the star fox or return to dinosaur land patches working that I posted? No dice for me so far.

Yeah so these games had patches that enhanced the graphics a bit and made it look more true to the arcade version. Color tweaks and things like that. Take a look at this blog, about halfway down the page to see a small write up about it. http://satoshimatrix.wordpress.com/2011 ... -apps-nes/

Wow go hyperkin tech or whoever did that with all those nice IPS files. I'm really interested to know how the hell it's possible to make Starfox1 into the sequel. I have it on a cart already but still I'm curious.

That Terranigma one is the real seller, along with Tales and Seiken Densetsu 2. I've surprisingly never got around to any of those as I never was much for playing console RPGs on a computer and the only one I oddly ever did knock off was lazily messing around with sailor moon of all things.

I just skimmed that satoshi matrix list of stuff for the Famicom. It made me realize there's some stuff I'd really like to own I don't have yet, and some I never considered only due to the language barrier which is now gone short of buying a chop shopped warez cart. Things like Sweet Home among a few others are finally within grasp.

Got the patches I posted working. I was selecting the wrong file like a genius. Star Fox 2! No need for a repro! Now I'm counting the days til My SFC Seiken Densetsu 3, Terranigma, and Bahamut Lagoon carts arrive. I <3 my Retron 5!

My plans to buy a system are... later. But my Seiken Densetsu 3 I ordered came today in case the price goes up on that before that happens. Already have a Terranigma repro sitting on the pile to play eventually.

Good luck to everyone out snagging games.
