Random Thoughts Thread
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Two days ago I got a request from two people to see what I work on from our London office, and now I've got about a dozen more requests and engineers in the UK who are asking me if they can start developing systems downstream from my work. Today has been a bit hectic.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I am onboarding a new rep who is an internal transfer and thinks that she can do what she want. She is having a really hard time transitioning since she is not accepting help, just demanding that things get done for her. The next few weeks are going to suck...
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Heh, I've realized now that there's at elast one benefit to living in a bedroom that used to be a kids nursery. For some odd reason my window has a sun shade so I've got the thing pulled all the way down and it feels like night nad makes it so much easier to sleep
Edit: I think I may piss off the mail man or lady before the month is up. My bitbox cases came in yesterday, parts from tstr come in today, ram next week, and not to mention I'm getting really tempted to buy some japanese games since I want a retron now especially since they have ips support on it now...

I'm sitting here, drinking coffee, waiting for my oil change to be finished. Hopefully soon.

I am sitting here.
Waiting for an oil change.
Should be finished soon.
You've been haikued.

I've always wanted to be able to throw a boomerang. The closest I ever got to that was throwing a very thin black and bright pink "boomerangish" thing (remember those?) that almost kinda came back, but never to me.

I don't think people appreciate how much time, money, and effort goes into their food.
I was price checking a new combine (without the header)... It was well over $250k.
I can't get into row crops. Land, equipment... Hell, it would probably cost close to two million to get started... I don't want that kind of loan.

I think that's funny somehow, but I'm not sure.

That's the reason the majority of farmers don't have new combines. They too damn high. Most of the crop people I know run 70's or 80's models, though I know a few running 60's models.Opa Opa wrote:I don't think people appreciate how much time, money, and effort goes into their food.

Land I can't speak for, its so different depending on area and everything.
I've never been a fan of raising crops though. I prefer livestock through and through, because there's more ways to play the market to your advantage, and running the right animals on the right type of land makes it easy. Plus, unless you put cows on rock ground or something stupid like that, your not as dependent on rain. (Unless you run irrigation, in that case, I just hope you make your money back)

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I don't understand why the first world is maintaining its farming industry. The EU spends like 25% of its budget every year on farming subsidies which is STUPID. And then EU farmers sell their extra crops just before they go bad, to 3rd world countries destroying the local economy.
We should remove trade barriers from farming produce (in return for 3rd poor countries removing trade barriers for our services and machinery), and allow cheap produce to come from Africa and the middle-east. This will help poor countries develop their economy much more than any aid we send them, and perhaps stabilize the region in the long run (you don't have time to be a militia when you have a job, and if the job can pay well even more the better)
