Turned on my PC Engine Duo for the first time in about a year and all of my saves were gone!
Turns out you really do need to "charge" the system every once in awhile.

Internal save memory? So I'm guessing by just powering the system on it somehow keeps all the saves?BoneSnapDeez wrote:Turned on my PC Engine Duo for the first time in about a year and all of my saves were gone!

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
According to instruction booklets of CD games, yes that seems to be the case.
I used to make sure I booted it up at least once every two weeks, but then it lived in a closet for awhile and then it was packed up to move and I just lost track.
My Ys Book I & II saves are gone! Looks like I will have to play the game again. You know, because I wasn't planning on doing that anyway.

Yeah, I'm sure you were due to play those again soon on your "Ys Schedule", right?BoneSnapDeez wrote:My Ys Book I & II saves are gone! Looks like I will have to play the game again. You know, because I wasn't planning on doing that anyway.

Square-Enix hiring for newly formed JRPG focused studio
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/vi ... New-Studio
Two REALLY good things about this:
1) They seem to be actually keeping to their word and focusing on JRPGs again.
2) Forming a new studio with fresh blood might move the genre forward and fix many of the problems it suffered from, while bringing back the stuff we really liked about it

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Should be interesting to see what type of RPGs they turn out. Hopefully some nice old-school games for handhelds. A DQXI in the style of IX would be nice, as would a new Seiken Densetsu or SaGa.
If this studio just cranks out more Final Fantasy XIII's I won't be too thrilled.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I don't have a link handy, but there was an interview or a statement by SquareEnix that basically said "Hey, you guys really like Bravely Default; we should probably do more games like that" and it gave me hope for the future.
I think at this point the main Final Fantasy brand is "graphics spectacle" and there isn't much getting away from that. But we could see sidelined franchises and new franchises pick up where Final Fantasy VI left off.
Interesting fact: at the Sakaguchi panel at PAX he was describing some of what went on at Square when they were building FFVII that I think explains why the main series has gone the direction it's gone. When they were building FFVII they didn't really have any people who knew 3D graphics at the time, so they reached out to the film industry. The film industry had a ton of people working with computer generated graphics that they were able to bring on to help them, but at the same time they brought on a lot of know how with how to build a film-like story. As they got integrated it really transformed the Final Fantasy team.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I still need to play Bravely Default. Maybe I'll download the demo to get started. The demo's pretty long right? And I assume I can continue my demo save when I get the full game?
