DS screen scratching

Post by jvalentine98 »

I have a DS lite, with a nearly perfect screen, no visible scratches when held under a light. Most of my games play with the D pad only: NSMB, RE Deadly Silence (except for one puzzle),Sonic Rush, etc. However I recently got Dementium and upon playing noticed I can't aim without using the stylus. I took the game out and it resides on a shelf to this day.

I wasn't aware of that when I bought the game. I purposely avoided games where the stylus was required so as to not scratch my screen. From what I have heard of screen protectors, they aren't so great. Anyone know of a protector that actually works right?

That's my one gripe with the DS, it's a great machine but in order to enjoy many of the games, you have to scratch it up
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

Protip: You're wearing out the buttons and wearing the paint off them by using them too.

But really, if you don't push hard on the stylus, you shouldn't really be scratching the screen.

Id give up sensitivity to save my screen from getting scratched.

You dont have to apply heavy pressure to the screen anyways. it says so on the manual and some games.

I know kids get excited and they wail away at it.

My DsiXL has been saved countless of times by having that screen protector.

There are some cheap Screen protectors that only are sticky on the corners and there are some that cling all the way. Many come with a little plastic card to smooth away the bubbles.

Some screen protectors have two tear way plastic films that protect the actual screen protector between them. If you do apply it, make sure you remove them. Otherwise the screen will look more foggy.

The screen will get darker just a bit anyways once the screen protector is on it, but you get used to it.

Just bite the bullet and get the screen protector.

I never used a screen protector on my DS Lite or DSi and I never got scratches on them.

That said, Hori makes pretty fool proof application-screen protectors. I've never had issues with any screen protector I've used though so maybe I'm just good like that. 8)

I use screen protectors on every touch device I have, from DS to 3DS to Vita to my smartphone... they are great and don't impact the input sensitivity whatsoever.

Then again, I use quality protectors, not cheap crap.

If you want a screen protector for DS Lite, you want Hori, like RyaNtheSlayA said. Here's a link to get them off Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... 586&sr=8-1

Buy from a fulfilled by Amazon seller with the highest feedback rating. That way you'll know you're getting the real deal and not a fake one. The people who left bad reviews bought fakes or didn't follow the installation directions properly.

Try Zagg Invisible Shield. Here's one I found:

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DS-Lite- ... B0013N80R8

You might be able to find one cheaper (just look for shields just for the screens).

I had one for my Nintendo DSi, and it was great.

Thing I noticed with these screen protectors than those cheap .99 cent protectors, is that this protector is thicker. And it has a lot of grip. You can tell at first. You won't be used to the grip you stylus is getting, but you get used to it.

I removed it when I had to send my DSi back for warranty though. And I haven't reapplied the new one. And honestly, I don't care anymore. As long as the top screen is clean and unscratched, I'm happy. I just started to feel that the bottom screen is meant to get beat up and scratched. And like Hobbie said, not using that bottom screen just means you are putting more wear and tear on the buttons.

Like Hobie said, you shouldn't be scratching the screen with the stylus. I have a DS phat that I never put any screen protectors on and the touch screen is fine. Although I don't use the stylus much (I prefer not using it) I've never had any problem with scratching the screen.

I started to take my 3DS out of the house on occasion, and wanted some protection for it. I never wanted to use screen protectors. I was afraid they'd hamper the visuals or mess up the touch sensitivity. But I decided to go with the Hori brand screen protectors, and I'm VERY pleased with them. I don't notice a real difference with them on. I forget that they're there most of the time. When the screen is OFF, when the light hits it a certain way I can see a slight rainbow effect, and that's the only time I remember that I have them on there. I haven't noticed a difference in the sensitivity of the touch screen, but like the DS, I don't use the stylus very often. Most games I use my fingers to press buttons on the touch screen (A Link Between Worlds, etc) and haven't noticed a difference at all.

So here's another vote for Hori's screen protectors. I was apprehensive about getting them, but now I'm glad that I did.
