When it comes out, I will buy one. Now the question is, when is it coming out? :)

I was just about to ask this. Dev's, get working on it!

But in all seriousness, my brother went to Gamescom and and played Eve Valkyrie and said it was the star of the show. Exciting stuff!

It's interesting that Samsung has jumped on the VR bandwagon, but when are they going to announce a finalised kit?!

Not sold yet, but I haven't heard a bad thing about it yet. Only glowing priase. I just think there'd be a disconnect for me in terms of looking around with my eyes and actually moving with a keyboard or whatever.

If the Gear VR had PC compatibility with all Rift DK2 software - heck, even if it had compatibility with anything other than the Note 4 (I have a Note 3) - I would probably buy it. Just release the DK2 to retailers already! The whole point of the Samsung deal was to get a reliable supply source for the displays used in the Rift! Plus, all of that Facebook money should be helping, so just announce a release date, already!

I played half life on one about 9 months ago as well as an early dev test of some 3D platform type game. I was unimpressed. It felt like it was still a few years ahead of its time. Maybe some breakthroughs have happened with half life but it made me nauseated and felt like looking through a wet screen door.

I read in Edge that even Nvidia's Geforce 980 struggles to achieve the fillrate necessary for the consumer version of the OR platform. To radically revamp game engines and hardware architectures to fit VR demands seems like too much to take in, and with such heavy requirements I don't think VR will become mainstream for several more years. Maybe they'll come up with a clever algorithm akin to z-buffering where only objects and geometry in the player's immediate FOV are rendered to save on processing power.
