I have a feeling this is going to cause the prices of imports to go up, so lots like these:

will start disappearing or atleast getting a price jump.
Yeah, i'm going to seriously be looking into things like that, especially once they get the manafacturing thing down so I can get one(I don't know if I can wait for a backorder if that's even possible and prices for the system right now stink if you get one on amazon or elsewhere...)

Purchasing the Super Famicom versions of Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG right now. What's great about this is that I can play the games to practice my Japanese and patch them for Kit to play on her own time.

I could almost afford that lot fast posted if it wasn't for the shipping...their shipping still makes it hard to do right now :|

That was my first thought too last night about those bundles.

Yeah now that you guys mention them I'm really going to have to pay attention to those just so I can get some since those seem better than the us versions(forgetting the fact I can't tell what I'm looking at for some of them since i don't understand japanese and have never seen some of the labels before o_O

So are there IPS patches available for most SFC games that will actually work on the Retron? I'm sitting here drooling over the prospect of picking up Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2), Bahamut Lagoon, and Rudra, etc on the cheap before people catch on to this, but I don't want to drop a bunch of cash and then have them not work. Apologies for being a n00b about this, but I've only ever downloaded ROM's that are prepatched, haven't ever needed to patch them myself.

I only use FB to follow Hyperkin's page. This was on Hyperkin's main account, but this response was buried on a post under about 70 comments before it.

That would explain why I hadn't seen it. I got fed up with some everlasting trolls there posting junk at me calling me an apologist and stealth employee and patently lying about stuff because they didn't like my posts.

Yes, with the R5 you just need the basic IPS file and your SD card to stuff the IPS into the system through the menu. You enable it on the system, then put the JP-SFC(etc) game into the slot and it will detect the patch and apply it after it downloads the game into system memory.

I've picked up roms before but I've never bothered with pre-patched, not sure why. I just in the last few years if needed used this program called Ninja that works with all sorts of games and you just select the IPS, then select the game, then hit GO and it's done. The R5 works just like that. You select the IPS and activate it, throw the game into the slot, and it patches it to play.

Oh snap!

Another new firmware -- 2.0 Beta 3 released today!
and the changes -

- Improvements to IPS patch support including ability to specify if a patch expects a header, and various other fixes
- Super Gameboy borders may optionally be displayed, configurable via Settings menu
- Misc game compatibility fixes (GB Space Invaders)

SGB BORDERS?! HOLY ****

Hyperkin must have ordered large quantities of TROLL SPRAY (or at least listened to people!)

GET!

So the header/no header support - does this mean ALL translation patches out there should work without issue now, provided you select the proper option on the Retron?
