Tested again. Made some new saves.

They work.

Of course, this is one game. But I'm feeling optimistic.

What about using the new and old saves on the original system? That's what I want to know

Loving the IPS features. I didn't have any luck with my Super Famicom games, but almost all of my Famicom games with IPS patches worked great. I have a feeling my SuFami games didn't work because all the IPS files for those called for the headers instead of a raw dump.

So now everyone's gonna jump on the bandwagon.

I got it from the outset to condense my gaming area, and to play my carts in HD.

I have to give it up to Hyperkin for making so many improvements this quickly.

It's been said quite a few times in the past couple of months, the latest post was from the Retron Tech on 8/29 over on their Facebook (in the comments below a post) -

Hmm well that's interesting. I have to admit I don't like nor use facebook more than minimally needed so that's likely why I totally missed that. If it was on his page and not the main one, I never read that since it's all through private message.

THe patching of the IPS doesn't surprise me it doesn't impact the saves. There really is no reason why it should since it's not tampering with the save routine of the rom, just the value index for the text of the game and the characters needed to display it. It's pretty nice seeing one system out there where you can buy up cheap SFC RPGs no one wants due to the barrier, then apply a free patch and boot the game up like normal. No need to steal a game, break a game, patch a ROM onto a chip, just go for it like normal and magic happens.

That's pretty awesome on the IPS front.

Yeah the ips thing really has me considering this thing and even Japanese carts...too bad it's not available in any form at msrp that I can when looking for it now....

Well, my RMA will be arriving back at my doorstep this afternoon, can't wait! I'll update when I see how the new NES slot feels compared to the old one that never loosened up (as opposed to my SNES slot which loosened up perfectly).

This IPS stuff, can somebody explain to me this header vs. RAW stuff? Do most games (I'm thinking about Mother 3 for GBA and Square/Enix SFC RPG's like Bahamut Lagoon and Star Ocean specifically) have IPS patches available that will work in this thing. I've looked at Mother 3 repros a billion times, but I'd like to buy the official Japanese cart if I can get the translation to work in the Retron.

Once you apply an IPS patch, can you set it to auto boot that game with the English translation already applied?

The on the fly ips patching is pretty game changing in my eyes. It means you can spend $30 to import FF4-6 and CT instead of spending $40 a pop on them (if you did not own them already).

I have a feeling this is going to cause the prices of imports to go up, so lots like these:

will start disappearing or atleast getting a price jump.
