Speaking of the city of broad shoulders, check it out:
Had a huge marketing meeting last week that included a few new faces. One thing I'm implementing is surveys, as the museum doesn't know their audience. I've written plenty of surveys, but only for finding profit, not increasing visibility.
After the meeting one of the new faces approached me, and surprisingly she formerly wrote surveys for the art institute of Chicago. Of course, I was a bit taken aback and asked when she moved to NC. "Last week".
This woman is around twenty three, and a total knock out. Not crushing on her, but we have a lot, more like a ton, in common. Not playing with fire, but I am taking her out next weekend to show her around the town.
Here's why.
I know exactly how she feels. She hasn't had the time to make friends, and I'm a bit of a social butterfly. Strike that. I'm a social dragonfly. Or social fruit fly. I know a lot of people is all I'm saying.
Like me, she's adventurous. I live in a city that barely qualifies to be called a city, but there's plenty of awesome things to do, if you know where to go. So I plan on taking her to the Mexican joint that serves tongue, to the hole in the wall bar that makes an amazing bloody mary, to the dollar a game bowling alley, the fire tower, and the best fish market in Eastern NC.
So there.

I hope that your tour also includes B's Barbecue.

Love playing tour guide. I'm that overexcited guy that loves telling "fun facts" that you get annoyed with within two hours. I know the cut of my jig, and I'm fine with it. One of my closest friends calls me "the didja know guy" as I say stuff like "didja know the Prudential building was the tallest skyscraper in Chicago for over two decades?", and the likes of other stuff no one cares about.

Again, the word is "jib".

I dunno. Cut of your jig would mean you can follow a line. That might not be wanted in his line of work.MrPopo wrote:Again, the word is "jib".
Ticked - Lunatic in parking lot with gun. Wanting to kill his exgirlfriend who works in our call center.
Smiled - Our boys in blue neutralized him fairly quickly. While it may take big balls to pull out a handgun and threaten someone in a public place, you put down your gun when three shotguns are pointed at you from sub 20 feet away.

I don't sail, so I cannot cut a jib. I can cut a rug, hence dancing, hence "jig".MrPopo wrote:Again, the word is "jib".
A jig? That's something I can cut.
Own beat to my drum I move.
Smile: Free stuff. Got around twenty bucks of food (crappy food, but free) by being a "loyal customer" or something close to that.
Frown: Apparently everyone is a loyal customer as most of the free stuff was already not sold out.
Smile: Duct tape.

But changing a well known phrase since you do not partake in what it came from is confusing. Thats like saying "A rolling stone gathers no hotdogs" since I do not roll stones.Luke wrote:I don't sail, so I cannot cut a jib. I'm not at school today, but just saw three alert emails that there are reports of a person with a weapon and the entire campus is on full lockdown with both school and city police involved. All classes have been cancelled.

I wish I could drop it, I really wish I could. Required for my major.darsparx wrote:Welcome to my worldForlorn Drifter wrote:I think my chemistry class will be the death of me. I had one day, and I already feel like I will go nowhere in it. Just have to pass...
I dropped that class after a week....(in college of course at the first community college i went too). I hated chemistry in high school so what made me think I'd like the college version? I have no clue
I don't believe the world is going wrong, its just going back to what's natural. There's too much getting in the way of what people want, or causing them to feel like they having no power, or causing them emotional distress. Humanity is tribal at its base, and what does a tribe do when they have a problem? Fix it. I don't have food, but he does. I'll kill him and take his food, or steal some. These guys hurt me. I'll hurt them back. Etc etc.Xeogred wrote: What is this fucking world coming to?
