Actually, the Flood is everything that is wrong with the galaxy (and most of what is wrong with Halo 2).

I also liked to call the space marines "Team America: Space Police", but that name was not as catchy as "Space 'Murica". I also loved it when the space marines would yell something like "Let Master Chief show you how its done!" right before I would die in a spectacularly inept fashion. (They would also yell things like "Follow the Chief!", but since I would have no idea where I was supposed to go, I would end up getting the space marines hopelessly lost on empty parts of the map.)

Unfortunately The Flood turn up to ruin Halo 3 as well. Hoping Destiny isn't ruined by "The Drench" or something.

I don't get these opinions on Halo.

The Flood are fine. They don't "ruin" anything they are just a specific enemy type. No biggie.

As far as the campaign goes, I'd say that Halo Reach>Halo 2>all other Halos>ODST. Sorry, but ODST is shit.

I am still debating if I want to call the challenge complete or try my hand at System Shock 2 again. Basically I played an hour or so but lost all the progress and am not eager to go at it again...and the interface/UI seems very unintuitive and frustrating.

Eh, for me the problem with the Flood is they are both uninteresting to look at and to fight. Big pukey indistinct looking blobs shuffling towards you that are bullet spongy but not very intelligent. That and I found they'd sneak up and instant kill me way too much. Bastards.

ODST was cool because it had Nathan Fillion and you weren't a Super Soldier. That and it was pretty low key by the standards of the series.

With regard to this, I agree with this:

The battles with the Covenant were generally fun and interesting, but the sections of the game with the Flood were just tedious. (FYI, I really liked fighting the Flood in Halo:CE. They just weren't put to good use in Halo 2.)

It just seems that more often than not people "bemoan" the Flood b/c they are a different type of enemy that operate differently than 3/4 of the enemies in Halo and, thus, cause problems for many players who can't or don't like to adapt their play style accordingly. I think they are a brilliant variation that smacks of smart and interesting game design, even if their AI is "bullet sponge/annoying" instead of "hoppy/clever".

If nothing else, they live up to their name. I actually prefer them in the first game to the Covenant, because it reminds me more of that run and gun style of games like Serious Sam or Painkiller.

Why?

I'd put ODST towards the bottom as well, but I like all Halo games to some degree, I don't think any of them are outright crappy. I also agree with the statement about liking that you weren't a super soldier in ODST, but it was done far better in Reach.

Nothing kills my interest in a game like losing a save. I usually need a long break if it happens.

I'm kind of in the same boat at the moment, from the "Am I done?" angle I mean.

I'm close to the end of Metroid Prime, but completely lost my groove and my motivation. The fact that I'm in the midst of the Artifact hunt isn't inspiring me either.

After that I have Earthbound, a big rpg that I'm not really in the mood to play.

I dunno, I'm so close to completing the full 10 I can taste it, and yet...
