What are you playing?
Re: What are you playing?
Have you played LR Dunpeal? I wonder if you'd agree it's not nearly as fun as the first two. I wish they just stuck to the party system.

I haven't had the chance to plat that one yet. I wanted to get through XIII-2 first, but I haven't quite been in the right mood for it yet.
Re: What are you playing?
I'm glad things are starting to go a little more civil again. I just want to add that I haven't played the game at all, and my earlier comments were simply in regard to that one particular aspect of the game as mentioned.
I will say, however, that I found Final Fantasy 1 to be pretty hard, unless I did lots of grinding, so there is that. FFV also had some very difficult areas for the non-heavy grinders.

Re: What are you playing?
I think Final Fantasy V is the most well-balanced game, where taking advantage of the system actually feels right in the game. I think its an exception to the rule, when it comes to Final Fantasy games though.
Final Fantasy 1 I played on the Origins port and the GBA remake, and I didn't find either to be particularly challenging, but I believe changes were made to those versions. So, for the original I can't comment.
When the comparisons come out, though, I never get the feeling that people are referring to 1 and 5 as the golden era of Final Fantasy JRPGs, since they seem to be on the lower end of popularity.
A good call though, because FFV manages to skirt most of the issues I find the other games in the series to have. I would love to do a Four Job Fiesta run one day.

Re: What are you playing?
FF1 played on the GBA is MUCH easier than the NES original. I played the NES original, and even used the Nintendo Power game guide for it, and still found it very hard. Boss battles tended to boil down to hoping the boss didn't spam their most destructive attacks every turn. They usually didn't, but if you got unlucky there was no chance in hell.
FFV I didn't play all the way through, but I remember at some point getting stalled because I had made some particular class choices whereby there was an awful lot of grinding involved and the game was proving very difficult without just grinding the hell out of the levels.

For the record, if anyone is trying to dump a PS3 copy of FFXIII, please let me know. I'd love to try it out for myself.

(I didn't look because I've locked myself out of spending any more money until monday on anything)Nintendork666 wrote:For the record, if anyone is trying to dump a PS3 copy of FFXIII, please let me know. It's $15.99 on sale on SE's online store right now. Not sure if that's further discounted with the back to school thing.darsparx wrote:You know, i almost wonder if it's the same everywhere, but looking around walmart yesterday with my dad, I swear i saw the xbox version of XIII for $15 or something like that, maybe the ps3 version is the same? Offhand, the sale price on the FFXI collection there isn't as good as it'll be week after next since they're doing a bunch of promo stuff to try and get players back on that (though you get a promo item for having an active account by today too).

Without tax walmart has it for $14.96 so yeah....almost makes me half tempted to get it and see why people don't like it for myself...isiolia wrote:It's $15.99 on sale on SE's online store right now. Re: What are you playing?
The GBA remake of FF1 is really easy. NES FF1 is a challenging game.
