Hello everyone.
I come here because i'm looking for informations about the history of doujin games. I am writing an article in French about the history of Japanese independent game but I can't find some important informations.
I'm looking for the date of first Comiket which hosted doujin soft. The only dates on the internet talking about the first touhou project (Touhou Rei'iden) in 1997 at the Comiket 52. The event was created in 1975 and I'm sure that doujin soft were sold before 1997.
I'm also in search of the name of the first arcade port of a doujin game. The oldest of my knowledge is "Rumble Fish" in 2004, but I'm sure many others were published on arcade before him. SHMUP or Dating Simulations i guess
Can someone help me about this?
Thank's in advance
The dôjin games history
Re: The dôjin games history
I suspect there was doujin soft for the old MSX and PC-88/98 series as well, and it may even have been sold at Comiket. That info may be a lot harder to find on-line, though.
Re: The dôjin games history
Yeah, that article (which is a translation from the dev of ChoRenSha68k) mentions that doujin games were pretty much all for a mix of older Japanese computers.

Thx. It helps me a lot.
As I said, my article is about the history of Japanese indie games. I try to treat the subject by evoking the origins, games and platforms that have allowed to advance hobbyist productions. MSX, PC88/98 hosted many of these games. I got help from forum members dedicated to these platforms to write each part. The problem is that it is already difficult to know how many games have been published specifically on these old computers, so, find the name of those presented in Comiket...marurun wrote:I suspect there was doujin soft for the old MSX and PC-88/98 series as well, and it may even have been sold at Comiket. That is why i visit several websites to find information.
Thx. I already used this excellent website to find some informations. It's pretty cool but there's nothing about the first games on Comiket or something about dôjin on arcade. Whatever, i agree, this site is excellent when you need something about the PC 98/X68k and FM7/FM Towns. It helped me a lot when i worked on this part.Hobie-wan wrote:Maybe these links will lead you to more useful information.
