They already announced the New 3DS XL. It launches with the New 3DS.

...the NEW 3DSXL was mentioned yesterday with the announcement, and multiple times in this thread already...

Although I'm also annoyed by the constant re-designs and upgrades of their handhelds, especially as there was no reason why Nintendo didn't include a second analogue stick and 4 shoulder buttons on the original 3DS, with it being more of an upgrade with exclusive games, I think I'll probably end up getting one eventually. Playing Xenoblade Chronicles on a handheld would also be nice. I much prefer playing RPGs on a handheld.

Hmm, i was initially hyped, but tbh, the only thing that really appealed to me about it was the fact that Xenoblade is coming. Then i thought about it a little and just decided to get that game for my wii, which is still going strong, and i can play on a proper big screen. 3D is a nice gimmick, but i'm not that pushed about it for a long-ass RPG - even when i go to see a 3D movie, the effect kind of just gets filtered out by my brain after the initial wow factor, and that's just over a couple of hours.

For me, i think in the end that the decision will be made by other games which come out as exclusives for the New 3DS (for my part, i'm just glad that Smash Bros isn't one of them...)

I already have Xenoblade on the Wii; I'd just rather play it on a handheld. That said, if they never really put out many other exclusives (or many worth buying), I'd probably give it a miss too.

Why? Even if it has exclusive games you don't need to buy a console AND an add on to play them.

I like how I essentially got called an asshole (on other sites) for suggesting that the 3DS should have a second stick built in when they originally announced the circle pad accessory.
Fast-forward a few years and Nintendo releases a trailer with a little analog nub and people are eating it up like it's manna from heaven.

People are crazy.

Improved 3D is an attractive feature. I've never been much of a handheld gamer, but I did like the 3D effect on games like Mario Kart 7 and Dead or Alive when I tried them on the original 3DS at a couple in-store kiosks. Trying to find and remain in that "sweet spot" for the optimum 3D effect was a little annoying though. Also, I did experience a bit of a headache after awhile, as others have often described.
