I told my wife that I intend to buy this one even though I just got my 3DS XL for Christmas. The analogue nub will be essential to my enjoyment of Monster Hunter 4. I hate to deal with a compromised control scheme. I was actually not going to buy MH4 because I didn't feel like the control scheme would be comfortable since there wasn't a good way to control the camera. So, this makes me happy. Also, I never use the 3D feature of the system because I can never hold it in the sweet spot well enough.
I do think it's a bad idea to make games only compatible with the new system, but I think they did that with the DSi and it wasn't a big deal, people just understood.
Lastly, the naming new iterations of the same device too similarly issue should be old hat by now. I mean look at Nintendo's history: Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, Gameboy Micro, Wii, Wii Mini, DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DSXL, 2DS, etc....
I'm excited to see it. I am glad Nintendo is turning things around and FINALLY doing things the consumers want.
Also.....Xenoblade Chronicles on the New 3DS....fucking yes!!!

Yes. Another reason to buy is definitely MH4. I can't stand using a CPP attachment so I went with just the touch dpad for MH3U.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
Well yes the naming fits, still doesn't mean this time it's ignorant as all get out. Sure it's GB, GBP, GBC, GBA, GBM for example but really a 'New 3DS?' I can see ebay and other auction sites getting into shitty battles over semantics on that one. ....bubububut the guy said it was a NEW! 3DS. They could have aped their own junk from the past. Super 3DS, 3DS Advance, 3DS SP, 3DSi, or something a little less dumb from a sales perspective. Even sealed (really new) it being a New 3DS after being out a couple years really won't be all that 'New' you know?

Keep in mind this was a Japanese direct for Japanese audiences. Though it's unlikely, NoA could end up calling this something else entirely.

Ha, I just use the left shoulder to swing the camera, pretty much feels like playing PSO.ZenErik wrote:Yes. Another reason to buy is definitely MH4. I can't stand using a CPP attachment so I went with just the touch dpad for MH3U.
Has worked to get me up to HR7 so far!
I'm pretty excited for the New 3DS. 3D Tracking is cool, and changeable faceplates are awesome. I just hope Nintendo doesn't end up region-locking them.

Neo 3DS XL? Though if they call it that in the west, we're going to be very confused over here

Oh don't worry. I'm sure in the event that this gets released here, Nintendo of America will give this newer 3DS model a terrible name that will strike us with confused looks. One that is worse than "Wii U". And it won't be 3DS2 either.
