Um....just look for underground caverns mate. Then you just explore them and find plenty of goodies (and enemies)

Fair enough. I've always been the type of person to say "Don't knock it if you haven't tried it". Maybe I'll just have to play it before forming an definite opinion.BogusMeatFactory wrote:Initially, you may be right, but after years of updates, there is an actual objective and ending to their survival mode, which can be very challenging.graffix_13 wrote:I don't get Minecraft.
I know a lot of people love it (my nephew included) but to me it just sounds....boring. You build stuff. Ok? What else? Yeah, sure, there is a mode where you kill zombies/creepers or whatever but the overall premise is still the same.
Besides building something and then admiring your work, what's the point?
I like being a little more destructive in my video games
I think with the game it has always been about the story you create for yourself. Also, playing multi-player with friends enhances the game a million fold as you guys can just have fun trying to survive and blundering along the way as you make stuff.
It isn't for everyone and I get that, as it is a style of play not suitable for everyone, but for me it is amazing. I would love to play with some people though
Re: Games you don't get
I've never found any great caverns, just shallow stuff, nor very deep either so I end up just carving something myself. I'll usually make a wide set of steps down into the ground and see what pops up, deepest so far around 60 steps from the current(whatever) elevation I'm at.
I guess I have to wonder with the passage of time and ease of getting lost finding your place again in the game early since I can not craft a map or a compass, it's kind of just being stuck or a matter of luck. You can't just keep walking for a few game days and find something as you'll be monster food overnight and if you get lost then what with no map? It's stuff like that which keeps me casually playing it compared to Terraria which I've got around 30 hours on or so.

What's the difference between Terraria and Minecraft? Because I've heard good things about that game too.Tanooki wrote: It's stuff like that which keeps me casually playing it compared to Terraria which I've got around 30 hours on or so.

I've played a few of those card battling games, things like SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash and the GBC Pokemon Trading Card Game and I do not get them. My eyes just glaze over when the game starts telling me the rules and I always fuck up and put the wrong cards down. I know they are good and probably really addictive but I am shit at them.
I am in constant awe of the vast amount of children who know Yu-Gi-Oh like the back of their hand. It is figuratively a foreign language to me. Literally.

Oh yes, that's another immensely popular franchise that I just don't get at ALL: Pokemon.Sload Soap wrote: GBC Pokemon Trading
Is it basically just raising monsters and having them fight each other? Or is there more to it?

Terraria is 2 dimensional and has a much more fast-paced, arcadey gameplay. I personally didn't it find it as enjoyable, but that is just me personally. If ever you want to play Minecraft, grab a friend and a mic to talk. I am always up for playing.graffix_13 wrote:What's the difference between Terraria and Minecraft? We should totally get a Racketboy Minecraft server.

Regular Pokemin's is indeed about cute monsters forced into a life of brutal violence by unscrupulous trainers. The stated aim it to both collect them all and to be the best, like no one ever has. It's not my bag but I get why people like it and I understand how to play it at least.graffix_13 wrote:Oh yes, that's another immensely popular franchise that I just don't get at ALL: Pokemon.Sload Soap wrote: GBC Pokemon Trading

The Trading Game just flummoxes me with all its rules and regulations. I stare at all the numbers on the cards and my mind goes blank.

In a way super similar yet not. Terraria looks like it was coded for a SNES with just a lot more memory/storage to it to accomodate the huge freaking map you can setup and it's all in 2D. Both games have the same general stuff, crafting, tunneling, killing monsters at night and hunting in the day, harvesting goods to make things and gear and both have bosses. Terraria doesn't deal with the necessity of eating or you die though, so that's a plus or not however you see it, and it's easier to find your way back as the world isn't so daunting despite being huge since it's on a flat panel. Terraria isn't anywhere as hardcore though on crafting as minecraft is as it's pretty straight forward stuff just needing rocks, metals or trees while minecraft goes further with a larger crafting matrix and a lot more raw materials so it's the more complex game.graffix_13 wrote:What's the difference between Terraria and Minecraft?
