Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
The current circle pads aren't comfortable either. Can't see this little nub being much worse.

It has got to be better than the original PSP nub right? RIGHT?!

Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
If it's as good as a ThinkPad trackpoint it will be fine. When I was younger I played a lot of games using one exclusively. I've even seen people play Counter Strike with one and do okay.
Frankly, I see a lot of opportunity with this revision. If this thing can run a port of Xenoblade it can run Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and various other excellent games that I'd love to play on a 3DS.

I love the way this thing looks. Just wish it had been the launch model.
I will end up buying one if there is a sizable amount of good exclusives.

Since I feel I'm in the minority here and do like having the 3D on, yet rarely use it either I can see buying this. The whole move your hand a 1/2" either way go double vision and faded on the thing just sucks, this fixes that. The other listed improvements seem to add value as well.
What I'm failing to see here, especially with it now clarified that the system will have exclusive and hybrid carts why some are fighting the direct comparison with the GBC let alone trying to call that thing, which it wasn't, a new system. Go find an old tech sheet side by side specs of GB and GBC, they're the same, just a little added pad and a double clocked main CPU is all really. Both the GB->GBC and 3DS->New3DS do the same general improvements from appearances so far. Beefier hardware but backwards compatible, both have specific and hybrid games (gbc black vs transparent gray carts), both have a difference in output quality both for the internals and external(display screen), and the checklist works itself out quite well.
They clearly have a GBC the sequel thing going on here, it's just that we're not Ms Cleo or whatever and can't see if this thing will go 4 years like GBC did, 2 or less like other things (dsi, gb micro, agb-101 brighter) so it's a question mark.
I'd like to know what all they got cooking, and we will know as the months tick off to the JP release very later this year. Xenoblade is a BIG one, and a nice bone to throw to many who would have played it, yet ran away from the Wii screaming, and those who would love to again on the go. It also works as a nice advertising piece to get awareness up for Xenoblade WiiU in 2015 too.

Now it will be limited edition plates instead of the whole console.
The love/hate relationship with nintendo.
These are all beautiful. That navy/cobalt variant is downright gorgeous. I will likely sell my 3DS XL and pick one of these up. I like the 3D upgrades, battery life, etc. I'm not all that upset either, if it means I shell out maybe $30-40 extra when all is said and done.
Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
I'm surprised there's quite a lot of complainy reactions from people. I'm personally totally hyped, these versions fix everything that was wrong and add more. Guessing it's because these make the old ones pretty irrelevant. I happened to sell my 2DS just weeks ago, because I was pretty sure there would be revision coming for this Christmas... well apparently not outside Japan, which is weird, but whatevas.
Eye tracking for 3D effects makes it actually potentially usable thing, first time I'm excited for 3D effect. Analog stick for camera controls, hell yes. Do you people realize it is actually positioned pretty damn nicely in the sense that you can control it and press at least some XYAB buttons at the same time, that is pretty unique for right analog stick. How good it actually is we don't know before trying out. Same here as with 2DS, that had very negative reaction at first.
The OG 3DS was piece of crap in many ways, pretty to the eye though. I felt like it could use just a hitch bigger screen. The XL went overboard, the pixel density didn't keep up, and it wasn't necessarily to have that large screen for portable that is kept fairly close to face. The New 3DS hits the sweet spot, bit bigger screen, but pixel density should remain ok. XL was also heavier. Otherwise, and especially comfort was much better though.
Add second set of shoulder buttons, bit memory and CPU power, Xenoblade and other stuff, I'm so hyped for this. I was expecting 3DSi or 3DS Lite, but this is beyond my expectations.

Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
^ Yea. I'm very interested in the 3D on the new screen. The fact that any slight tilt on the old 3DS models would make everything blurry was very off putting. If this new one is more friendly toward occasional tilting and moving my head slightly I may actually use the 3D function.
