I'm enjoying Epic Pinball immensely, however. Crash & Burn is great.
Video Pinball
Re: Video Pinball
I'd love to get Pinball Challenge Deluxe (GBA), it was a conversion of Pinball Dreams 1 & 2. The graphics have been updated and the music still sounds just as good as it does on the PC. The only problem is that it was released only in Europe and it never comes up for sale anywhere

Re: Video Pinball
Anyone ever play Flipnic: Ultimate Pinball for the PS2? Didn't realize this was a Capcom release. Any good?
Re: Video Pinball
It is video pinball - not simulation video pinball. I thought it was imaginative and pretty interesting. I recall they made use of several art styles, and the "playfields" are no longer constrained to a small rectangle - they are pretty large involving lots of travel - similar to Sonic Spinball. It's been a while since I played it, but I may give it a go tonight after work to refresh my memories.retrosportsgamer wrote:Anyone ever play Flipnic: Ultimate Pinball for the PS2? Cool - seems like a real inexpensive pick-up also. I'm pretty intrigued.c0wb0y wrote:It is video pinball - not simulation video pinball. I thought it was imaginative and pretty interesting. Re: Video Pinball
Yeah, I've had Flipnic sitting around unplayed for a long time. Perhaps I will dive in today and share some thoughts.
Re: Video Pinball
I had some time last night so I played the first table/stage "Biology." It's got waterfalls, butterflies, UFO's (?) and plants framing the playfields which are connected by long rails dotted with coins which you can collect. It's very disorienting at first as you're travelling all over the place, but give it a few minutes and you'll begin to understand the layout. It has a quirky feel overall - almost like a sense of humor from the designers.retrosportsgamer wrote:Anyone ever play Flipnic: Ultimate Pinball for the PS2? Didn't realize this was a Capcom release. On one playfield, you're shooting the ball up a waterfall, striking pop-bumpers which stops turning slot machine reels which appear to be projected onto the waterfall. Get three of a kind and it releases coins, an extra credit, or other things yet to be discovered.
Make your way up to a higher playfield and the goal is to make the ball hit 5 pop-bumpers. A butterfly lands on each as you do it, but there is a chameleon lizard that is slowly eating the butterflies so you have to make progress quickly enough to keep him from eating your butterflies. When I managed to complete this objective, it changed seasons on the playfields.
The lower playfield with the slot machine theme now has a vertical playfield visible which is similar to the real life table Banzai Run.
When I first bought the game, I was really just starting my video pinball collection. It was a neat game - creative - but I couldn't crack the code. After an hour on it last night, I'll be giving it more attention. It's a really neat game as long as you like quirky visuals and mechanics.

Re: Video Pinball
Do any of you guys have any experience with Super Pinball: Behind the Mask for the Super Nintendo? Is it any good? How does it compare to Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies?
