IMO, White Zin (or blends in general) are never a good choice.
On the other hand, if you won't have people there who usually enjoy tasting and comparing vintages and who aren't somewhat "into" wine, then by all means go with the Zin as it seems to be a beacon to folks who rarely drink (or know very little about) wine. Otherwise, and if you don't want to alienate people who appreciate wine, an interesting table Chardonnay and table Merlot would probably be fine (depending on the food options).
And for your cheap beer, I'd go with something like Labatt Blue Light or even Miller Lite over Bud Light. I feel like there's better cheap UP choices than any if those though...

I did, and I still didnt get an invite. But I see it is because you are an Arsenal fan, and not a fan of the great Rangers.Blu wrote:As soon as you accept my friend request on Facebook! Then it's real!
White Zin is one of the most common wines, so it is not a bad one to have on the table. Alot of people will only know White Zin, Chardonnay, and Merlot, so if you have any combination of those three you should be fine. Dont stress about it too much. At the end of the day, it does not really matter. I bartended at my wife's best friends wedding last year and people bitched about the selection of Wine and Beer - Local on both accounts, and the wine was actually very good.

I think the main thing I want to emphasize is don't JUST have White Zin, but having it around for "non-wine drinkers" is probably a good idea.fastbilly1 wrote:I did, and I still didnt get an invite. Thanks Dave and Fast!
Yeah, I think the White Zin was for the casual drinkers that don't have preferred wine tastes. A Chardonnay and Merlot are great choices and I'll check Whole Foods, they have some pretty good deals on cases of their house wines.
As for the Bud Light, I'm not the biggest fan at all, but it's a family beer and people will be upset if it's not there. I don't fully understand the rationale and I'm with you, I'd take LaBatt Blue Light or LaBatt Blue before Budweiser anyday.
I know I can't make everyone happy, and I know there's a few people that haven't been to the UP before and I wanted to offer up some taste of the UP Craft Beer / Local Breweries.

If you are going to Whole Foods, ask if you can speak with the store manager for a "quick minute or two". Tell him or her that you're getting married in a month, and I bet you anything he'll cut you a deal.
And for the love of God, milk "we're newlyweds" for all it is worth. I can't tell you how many free bottles of champagne, glasses of scotch, and free meals and upgrades I received with those simple words.
I lied. I can tell you.
Two bottles of champagne at restaurants, one bottle from a grocery store the night of the wedding, two glasses of scotch, one free meal on the first night of our honeymoon.
Upgrade on our suite as well, but that's another story.

Ah! Sorry Luke! I meant to include you as well, as you had the first suggestions. I'll definitely pull the we're newlyweds bit, though I'm a bit more on the bashful side--Justine will definitely help me out. It's hard to believe it's only in a month.Luke wrote:What am I, chopped liver? ;Blu wrote:Thanks Dave and Fast!
