Who's getting SF4 and what's your setup?

Post by otaku »

Ok so who's getting the game and what are you getting? I just ordered my copy-I went for the Collectors edition for PS3 and also picked up the top of the line arcade stick (150! ouch!) I plan on using it for sf2, tekken 6 and DC universe though also and I figure resale value/collectability should be decent. I can't wait! one month to go!

Out of the current consoles I only have a Wii. I'm definitely getting SF4, but as of yet am undecided whether I get the PC version or shell out for an XBox 360. What will decide that will be the length of time between official console and PC release dates.

I'll be getting SFIV on the PS3 as i've already got a Virtua Stick High Grade that i'll be using. I might get one of the new tournament sticks, but they are rather expensive.

Of course people are still into fighting games. If a fighting game has a deep combat system that lends itself well to competative play, then it will never get repetative and boring. Case in point; Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, me and my friends still regularly play this game despite having played it regularly for the past 5 years or so, and it certainly doesn't get repetative as the combat is so deep there are always new tricks & strategies to learn.

It's like with SHMUPS, most normal gamers complain because they're too short and theres no real challenge, without realising that the challenge comes from learning the intricacies of the chaining system and bettering your score. It's the same with fighting games, they may seem repetative on the outside, but can be deeper than any other genre as long as you're involved in some form of competative play and fully understand the combat system.

Getting the game for PC whenever it comes out. I want to pick up a Hori stick and I think a X360 one will work.

Have the SFIV Collector's Edition on preorder for XBox 360. Also have the SFIV Fightpads for the 360 on preorder. Yes, I'm taking a chance on them. I'm really hoping the pads are good - especially the d-pad! The d-pad on the standard 360 controller sucks.

I'll probably end up picking up the PS3 and PC versions eventually. I have a few USB Sega Saturn controllers that work great on both platforms. :)

I've got the Hori stick on the PS3 for SSF2THDR and Soul Calibur, so I'll be getting it for the PS3. Looking forward to getting my ass kicked online.
