Playstation Vita thread
Re: Playstation Vita thread
Well and i think a thing that ruined it for most over here is the fact that they teased at a way to bring umds from psp to vita then nothing. I really wish sony would give it another go with a new handheld in a year or two and make it even better than the vita is....I really don't want the only handheld(next to all the android based ones which still count as the mobile side with android phones and iOS ones)....

Re: Playstation Vita thread
I wonder what the chances are of us getting the new Borderlands Presequel ported to the Vita

Re: Playstation Vita thread
You haven't presented any information that we didn't know. To hear claims that the Vita is dead after 2014 with all the 3rd party support it has been getting is ridiculous. The original vision of a portable PS3 isn't working out, but the system seems to be doing just fine with what it does offer.
The fact that we won't see Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, etc on the Vita anymore doesn't really sound all that bleak to me. I certainly feel bad for anyone who bought a Vita expecting yearly editions of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, and whatever other 'AAA' game series are on an annual release schedule.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
I never said the Vita was dead after 2014. I said I believe the Vita is Sony's last dedicated handheld. I said I believe Sony will not release physical first party releases for the Vita post-Freedom Wars in the West. I provided sources as to why I think this, quoting actual Sony executives. If you disagree with me, that's cool. Provide your own contradictory sources as to why. As for support, Vita is getting plenty in Japan sure, for certain niche genres. That doesn't help the vast majority of the world that doesn't speak Japanese or care about visual novels/JRPGs.ZenErik wrote:You haven't presented any information that we didn't know. "Just fine" is relative. If you're into indie ports, or Japanese niche imports, than the Vita is a good place to be. There's nothing wrong with those genres, but they aren't robust enough to hold up an entire platform's sales. If they were, Sony would have had much more to show for the Vita then they did at last E3.The original vision of a portable PS3 isn't working out, but the system seems to be doing just fine with what it does offer.

You may not have said it but others a page or two ago were implying that the Vita would be dead after 2014.
I agree that the Vita may very well be Sony's last portable. Another option would be to have a Vita successor released only in Asian markets where it will do pretty well. It is sad that Nintendo's next portable may be the only option whenever the next gen begins.

It worked out fine for the long period between the Game Gear and the PSP.ZenErik wrote:It is sad that Nintendo's next portable may be the only option whenever the next gen begins.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
How's this for sad? I think the 3DS is Nintendo's last dedicated handheld as an exclusive platform.ZenErik wrote:It is sad that Nintendo's next portable may be the only option whenever the next gen begins.
I say this because I believe their next portable will actually be a console/handheld hybrid. A handheld device that plays the same games as their current console. It will be able to plug into your HDTV and support additional controllers wirelessly for multiplayer, making itself a console in effect. Although this device will be sold separately from a cheaper console version that also plays the same games, but lacks the portable aspects.IF that is not the case, then at best the next Nintendo handheld will be playing downsized ports of its console's primary releases.
Why do I think this? Well...
sourceNintendo plans to merge its handheld and console divisions next month, Nintendo has confirmed to Gamasutra. On February 16, the Japanese publishing giant will bring the separate divisions together, opening a new unified sector that will include 130 console engineers and 150 handhand engineers.
sourceNintendo is to amalgamate its console and handheld hardware divisions in a brand-new Kyoto facility on February 16, 2013, the manufacturer has confirmed to GamesIndustry International.

Yea. I've heard about that potential for the next Nintendo... Thing. And it honestly sounds pretty appealing. Though that not being the ONLY choice would be even more appealing.

Haven't you heard the old saying that if you give people choice they choose wrong?ZenErik wrote:Yea. I've heard about that potential for the next Nintendo... Thing. And it honestly sounds pretty appealing. Though that not being the ONLY choice would be even more appealing.
