Full List of NEO GEO Pocket games with dual language support

Post by Betagam7 »

Recently as my collection has grown I've come to realise that certain NGPC games support dual language mode and depending on whether the console is set to English or Japanese will display in that language. This is particularly interesting to me given that several Japanese only games as well as Japanese versions of some of the more expensive Western releases can be played in fully translated English. As I was looking into this in more detail I came across what I think is a list of all games that support this feature. As I've seen questions about this on here before I'm reproducing it below in the hope it can help others.

People who are not necessarily interested in collecting western releases but just want to try the games might find this very useful as Japanese carts are a lot cheaper to obtain. I'll definitely be picking up Japanese versions of some of the more obscure western releases now that I know I can enjoy them in full English.

Black and White games supporting dual language mode:

Baseball Stars - 10/1998 - Sports (Baseball) - Dual Language

I ordered it. Hopefully it arrives before I head back to China. :D

I'll let you know how it is. I like how the story is written in English on the cover too. :)

From what I can see it's one of those titles that is just in English to give it a sort of cool appeal in Japan rather than a true dual language mode.

No problem. I just stole it from a thread on another forum and cut it down for relevancy.

It's slightly incomplete at the moment as I haven't been able to verify whether the Aruze Casino series runs in dual language or not. I believe every other game is covered though.

I want to try and get a hold of Samurai Spirits 1 as I just found out its not the same game as the colour game Samurai Shodown 2!, wheras many of the black and white games are just monochrome versions of their colour equivilents.

The Japanese B&W games are hundreds of £ cheaper than the rare PAL releases. It's also worth pointing out that sometimes extra content can be unlocked by switching your system to Japanese. I've heard, for example that Match of the Millennium has blood in it in Japanese but not in English.

My link cable is coming in the next few days so I'll be interested to test if black and white games link up with their colour ports.
