Get used to it. Save save save, as sooner or later it will be your water heater, or an a/c unit, or a faucet, or yard maintenance.

But it's fun, so enjoy it.

Seeing the utility jump 4 fold, not that enjoyable. Make sure, if you haven't already, that you have digital thermostats that you can program.
Congrats on owning a home! The idea of not losing money to rent and doing what ever upgrade fix you want is so much better! Things break, but worth the multiple Home Depot runs for your own property. Oh yeah, if a plumbing issue, a mandantory 3 revists to the store, a Home Depot curse!

Seriously, I am having so much fun reading those updates!

We had a similar experience in my household when we upgraded to a plasma last winter. Up until then we'd been using a fancy-ish but old CRT TV, and we'd initially changed nothing about the XBox 360's component connection with the new set. We'd been expecting things to look immediately amazing on the new plasma, yet I kept noticing really unbelievable graphical flaws in my husband's Red Dead Redemption game after the switch, like subtitle letters blurring together. I was baffled. While this was sinking in it was super late at night (we'd picked up the set just before store closing) and we'd just carried it over ice and snow and up two flights of stairs, so after all that my husband went to bed super bummed that it wasn't everything we'd wanted it to be. He'd been so excited about it and it was hard to see his disappointment.

I started messing around with the console settings right after he turned in because I knew something was amiss. Resolution tweaking helped a little, but not as much as I'd expected. Then I pulled out the console itself and had a look at it.

I bet a lot of you can see where this is going.

The thing was, I'd always thought of the XBox as being my husband's, so I'd really never bothered with its ins and outs myself. So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered the science fiction-esque switch in the back that read, "TV? OR HDTV??!?"

I flipped it. Instant brain explosion.

I was so thrilled that I actually woke my husband up to tell him I'd figured it out, could now see every strand of hair on Marston's head, and couldn't wait to see his amazement the next time he played. He was predictably floored the next day. :)

This is the television my PS3 was hooked up to the first year I owned it. It was a dark time.

:D - after close to 30 minutes on the phone with microsoft I was able to get my older copy of windows 7 I had put in parallels on my computer working again without the annoying "please activate windows" thing coming up. Now to reinstall my games next chance I get...might be time for a trip to my dad's just for the fact his mom has faster internet and just upgraded the router so I can redownload SWOT and maybe a few others(would be nice if I could get parallels tools to not make itself look like a vm so that i have to go reged-iting the registry to remove the stuff that gives it away every time
