What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

After an HOUR LONG CALL with Ikea everything is hopefully settled and I never have to speak with them again.

The first and LAST time I ever buy something from them.

Speaking of furniture... I just moved out of a fully-furnished house I had been renting. So I have to buy new furniture for this house. Looking at some game storage solutions and HOLY SHIT are those big box store "media" (CD/DVD/Blu ray) shelves cheap and crappy as hell. Had a couple fall apart during assembly. One had the screw holes in the wrong places. Managed to find some that were at least manageable, and the best set I found on the side of the damn road.

Not sure where to post this - it really could go in multiple threads, but i'll put it here as more than anything, it brought a smile to my face.

Stopped in to a Superior, WI gamestop today - mostly out of curiosity to see if they also had plentiful copies of Xenoblade and Prime Trilogy. I had seen substantial stockpiles at the 2 Duluth, MN locations I had been to.

So sure enough - there are 2 copies of each, w/art, manuals, and cases on the floor - all in seemingly new condition.

My boys pick out a couple cheap sports games for ps3 and 360 and I head to the counter.

As he's grabbing my games, the following conversation takes place:
Me: So what's the deal w/Xenoblade and Prime trilogy for Wii?
GSemployee: What do you mean?
Me: Well, it seemed like it was near impossible to find, now every gamestop I go into has multiple copies in new condition.
GSE: I'm not really sure - i've heard multiple things around the office about it, our one manager said Nintendo authorized us (gamestop) to fund a new printing of them
Me: Oh wow, interesting.
GSE: Yeah, don't really know though. Can I get your GS card?
Me: (hands card over, he scans, and rings me up). So - curious, how many copies do you have that aren't on the floor.
GSE: We had a box with a few dozen arrive a couple weeks ago, i'm not sure how many are left.
Me: (feeling goofy and entertaining my kids - and here's the good part) You know CRTGamer from racketboytalk, right?
GSE: (best part coming) (nods) yeah.
Me: Well did you hear his theory?
GSE: No, I hadn't heard, what did he say (he acts as if he knows CRT and he must be some industry insider and was too embarrassed to just say he didn't know him - too good, but I go with it)
Me: Well, CRT says they are likely surplus from a buyback campaign you guys did.
GSE: Hmm, I don't think so. We do lots of promotions and buybacks but rarely do we get boxes like that with just one or two titles, could be though.
(grab my games and go)

It may seem funnier to me just being there - but I assure you, I nearly lost it in the car on the ride home.

CRT - no offense and I hope you find this as funny as I did 8)

:) Finally going to have a decent length stay up here at college, two weeks worth. Its going to take a while to get used to roommates and neighbors so close by, but I think I can manage.

:( One of my roommates drank all my beer while I was gone.

 That was funny! Did not know my login name might possibly have that much influence. Boxes at various locations do surmise the Reprint theory though. Since these were mentioned before as crisp new with no R Gamestop sticker, I'm thinking now only the cases that have that R logo on the back Gamestop sticker are the buyback copies.

Bittersweet smile: Last True Blood party being held tonight. But it's not like we won't find another terrible show to latch on to on Sunday nights. And, Walking Dead will be coming back around in October.

Smile: Made my wife her first egg & onion sandwich in her entire life, and she loved it (warm bagel, poached egg, white American "cheese", and sauteed onion and bell pepper).

Same sandwich Myrtle May is known for ;)

Smile: Got a call out of the blue, on a Sunday about a Pharm rep position. Yes please. Crazy timing as I'm in negotiations with another company too, so stuff is firing on all cylinders.

Frown: A group of my friends wants to do a group costume for Halloween. I've been planning on being disabled/blind/Eddie Murphy from Trading Places (no black face of course) since February. I even have the box cart with coasters, hoodie, jacket, glasses, and fingerless gloves.

And their lamest idea that they think is clever is going as "Where is Waldo". We all stick together hiding a guy dressed as "waldo". No thanks.

Three dudes, three ladies. Not sure if a group costume will work.
