My woman's grandfather has the best quote about steak.
If waitstaff at a restaurant ask him if he wants steak sauce, his reply is:
"Boy, I sure hope not."

Hotdogs! The fire ban got lifted finally.
Italian potato salad too - magic bullet with garlic, pickle juice, pepper and lots of olive oil.
Yesterday I 1upped my bruschetta recipe and made an awesome dry rub for the beef tenderloin out of fresh rosemary and freeze dried chives in a mortar&pestil. (Ya I have chives & garlic chives but I needed it dry)
Nothing like having all the veggies and herbs grown in your own garden. My friend's daughter - "So this is what tomatoes actually taste like?"

So if you're out for lunch and order a sub sandwich from one of the national chains, what you get, and what toppings do you order?
I think the last sub I had was around three years ago. Had a picnic in downtown Chicago, across from the Art Institute and parallel to the Chicago Library.
Italian BMT, provolone on wheat.
Not toasted.
All the toppings but "1/4 of what you would usually put on a regular sub", as I hate sloppy subs.
Mayo, mustard, s&p, oregano, same "1/4 rule".

Subway melt with honey mustard on honey oat wheat bread(I think it's wheat) with honey mustard(may be horrible for me and disgusting to some but it's amazing to me)Luke wrote:So if you're out for lunch and order a sub sandwich from one of the national chains, what you get, and what toppings do you order?

Re: What are you eating?
We do Jimmy Johns, which is pretty tasty. My wife gets an Itlian BMT essentially and I get a roast beef. We tend to make our own subs though, as it is much easier and a LOT less expensive. you think a $5 footlong is cheap? How about a $1.50 footlong!? Suck it!Luke wrote:So if you're out for lunch and order a sub sandwich from one of the national chains, what you get, and what toppings do you order?

We have a Jimmy John's near my house, but like you mentioned, I'd rather not shell out more cash than necessary for a sandwich.BogusMeatFactory wrote: We do Jimmy Johns...

But I have no clue how you can make a footlong for $1.50. The bread alone costs about a buck.

Re: What are you eating?
Well we are talking Price per person. Nothing too fancy, just the lunchmeat, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers and the buns. We grab day old bread and it serves us just fine. Comes out between around $1.50 and $2.50 depending on the sales.Luke wrote:We have a Jimmy John's near my house, but like you mentioned, I'd rather not shell out more cash than necessary for a sandwich.BogusMeatFactory wrote: We do Jimmy Johns...
