Greetings and Salutations! It is a pleasure to have you aboard the Good Ship Racketboy! What consoles are you interested in Modding and what mods do you want to apply? What older systems do you collect for? Any gems?

Anywho! Do not mind my mindless barrage of questions! Welcome, once again and enjoy your stay!

Hey! and right now I'm starting with things like swapping the screen on an original GBA for a backlit one, and painting the consoles and controllers, though at the moment that's all on hold for money reasons, but I'm looking forward to starting on those projects. And I've also modded console sofware in the past putting free mcboot on a PS2 and Homebrew Channel on my Wii. And as far as what consoles I collect for, I have games for PS1,NES, SNES, most nintendo handhelds, sega genesis, and the gem of my collection, which would be my Neo-Geo CD. I really want to collect more Neo-Geo consoles, but they are mostly damn expensive.

Not really new anymore, but I apparently missed the memo!

Hello all! My name is Adam. I'm 22 years old and I've been playing video games for as long as I can remember. My fondest childhood memories? Button mashing on Street Fighter II CE with my bro on our Genesis, often fighting over who got to use the 6-button controller. Finding a Sega Saturn in the living room closet, and getting it for Christmas a little while later. Getting a PlayStation 1 in exchange for straight A's. And, choosing the PS2 over the Dreamcast (don't worry, I have a DC now :)). I was also the first kid in my class to have a PS2, and the only kid to have it for about a year. Yeeeah! :)

Despite those awesome memories, I never had a Nintendo (except the Game Boy Pocket) until a few weeks ago when I purchased a 1CHIP SNES.

I would call myself an aspiring collector, as my unemployed undergraduate budget doesn't allow for anything too spectacular. Thorough research during some boring classes brought me to this site. I did some light reading initially and eventually became addicted. Eventually, I decided to register when I saw someone was selling a modchipped PlayStation 1. I had to have it, to fulfill a childhood dream. Do you have any idea what it was like to be the only one in your family, among your friends who didn't have a modchipped PlayStation 1?! (I'm Asian, too.. I hope that adds some perspective.)

I do have a respectable collection though (IMO, at least). It consists of both CIB games and backups (if that counts) and a few consoles.

Besides gaming, my other interests include school, powerlifting and weight training, cooking, and playing music (guitar and vocals). The latter I don't take too seriously anymore. That's a dream I gave up a while ago to focus on my academic career. (Two years after I quit, the drummer from the old band is opening for Tarja in Russia.. My fellow metal heads should know her. Oh well.)

My favorite genres are RPGs and Survival Horror. More accurately, I'm severely biased towards anything by Square/Enix and Silent Hill. And Grand Theft Auto, whatever genre that fits into. I'm hoping to get some guidance here that will steer me away from Square/Enix for a while.

Anyways! Sorry to write a freakin essay here. I'm currently taking a study break and am obviously enjoying this distraction far too much. :) Thanks to everyone who has helped me, sold to me, and/or traded with me so far! I greatly appreciate everything!

And lastly.. this is the first forum I've ever joined, so I apologize in advance if I do anything that seems off. :)

Hello everyone. My name is Chris, but I go by Scottie Daddy online

Let's see... live in Louisiana... 31 yrs old... father of 3 boys...

That just about sums me up :) I started video gaming on my dad's Atari. For Christmas when I was 3, I got a NES. Since then, I now own NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Sega Master System, Genesis, and Dreamcast. I also have a Commodore 64 and an Intellivision.

I mainly only collect cartridge games, and my collections are very small

I'd hate to do the shameless plug... but I will be uploading pics of my collection within the next couple of weeks on my website, listed in my sig.
Have a Nice Day :)

Hi all. New to the site and thought I'd introduce myself.

My name's Raygan K. (hence the uncreative username.) I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. After a mis-spent youth as a Sega kid with a Genesis, a 32x, a Game Gear, a Saturn, and a Dreamcast, I eventually got a PS2, a PS3, and then mostly moved on to PC gaming. I've never been much of collector until recently when I started getting into the Game Boy Advance.

Apart from gaming, I am a Mac guy and video editor. Over the last few years I've been trying to turn my love of video games into something positive I could share with the world. Lately this has taken shape in the form of a podcast, The Short Game, a weekly show I host along with two friends about fitting games into your life. Each week we cover a single game in depth that should take less than about a week to complete.

http://www.theshortgame.net

(Racketboy members may be interested in our 15th episode, when we had Racketboy's own dsheinem on as a guest to talk about his recent Kotaku article.)

I'm mainly joining up for some help getting started collecting some of the Sega Genesis games I played as a kid, which are all sadly lost to the ravages of time and cross country moves, so expect to see me posting in those sections.

Hey RacketPeople, my names Scott and I like video games. Ive been reading the site for a while, so i figured i should join up and try to contribute.

I'm in my mid to late 20's and I guess you could say Ive been been collecting games since i was 4 years old, and i pooled all my money together with my older brother to buy Battletoads on the NES. Little did i know it would take me another 14 years to beat it. I really started building up a backlog of games when the PS2 was around, way too many RPGs were coming out back then, as if that's a problem to complain about though. Ive been lucky enough to have never sold any of my things video game related, and my parents were nice enough to never get rid of any of it, so as a result I have a collection that has been built up pretty much my whole life. It still pales in comparison to others, but I may try to post some pictures when I have time.

Anyways, I may not be a super frequent poster, but I'll try to contribute to the Racktboy community when I can.

Hey welcome aboard! It is a pleasure having you here! Don't worry about the essay! It is a delight to have someone talk so candidly about their collection and gaming history! It helps give some perspective on where you come from and is a joy to read!

Question time! You talked about your love of JRPGs, any non-Square/Enix ones that have a special place in your heart? You like the Grand Theft Auto style games as well, any that you like outside of Grand Theft Auto itself? I am a huge fan of Sleeping Dogs. If you haven't played it, I highly recommend it. You can get it for cheap out and about and is worth every penny!

Anywho. Welcome aboard and we can't wait to hear from you more often!

Hey welcome aboard as well! I'm 30 myself, about to turn 31 and I also grew up on the Atari 2600. Any games for the system you remember fondly playing? For me it was definitely Combat!, as my older brothers and I spent an eternity playing that game. Even then I was kicking their butt! Out of the system you have? What do you think is the most prolific in terms of collection? Which system do you favor for fun? I am a huge Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and Classic PC person myself. On the modern side, my gaming tends to stick towards the WiiU and PC games.

Anywho, I'll keep on eye out on your collection thread! Can't wait to see what you have!

Alright another classic Sega fan! Fear not, your youth was not mispent...except for what time you did spend on the 32X haha! I myself spent too much time on the Sega CD with FMV games, which has fueled the strange cheese-balled fascination with the genre! You say you are a video editor? Any particular youtube stuff you would like to plug that you have worked on? I have got to check your podcast out for sure as I need to get me a daily dose of videogame podcast into my repertoire!

Also...quickly, what games on the Genesis are you really looking forward to collecting?

Welcome again and enjoy your stay man!

Hey welcome! (Man, we got a lot of fresh blood here!) It is great to have you here on the site and can't wait to hear from you out in the wild depths of the forums! I, much like yourself, have a collection that is almost entirely gathered from childhood. The Saturn and Dreamcast collection were passed down from my older brothers and include some of the most desirable titles like Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, Saturn Bomberman etc.

The thing was, though, when we were kids, we definitely did not take care of those easily damaged boxes so everything is essentially loose. I am looking to get myself together some DVD cases and get some fresh covers printed out for them and get them out of the flimsy jewel cases to keep them better preserved for display.

I would love to see some pictures, especially of your PS2 stuff. Any particular gems that you would like to share? Even if they aren't worth a lot of money, it is the memories and enjoyment that you got from them that really generate their worth. Don't be shy though and can't wait to hear from you!

....phew....so many new people!

I don't really do anything games-related with video, so nothing to plug, though I did create the Kickstarter video for the GCW Zero open source handheld gaming console, which I was reasonably proud of.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gc ... g-handheld

This forum seems much more interested in gaming on actual hardware than emulation, but despite some setbacks after the Kickstarter I'm still proud of my contribution to the success of the Zero and pretty involved in the community surrounding it. If anyone has questions about the Zero or other handheld emulation consoles I'd be happy to try to help.

As for the Genesis, I'm probably going to start by trying to re-acquire the games I enjoyed most as a kid, so probably starting with the ToeJam and Earl games, and maybe Lost Vikings. Co-op was a must in my household; I have a twin brother. (He's also one of my co-hosts on The Short Game!)
