So Houston show in a few hours. I guess I'm the only Racketeer going? I'll be in green camo shorts and a red Contra shirt.
Anyone else been to their showing yet?

Let us know how it goes, Hobie (though don't spoil the ending). I'll be buying a DVD or paid download regardless, really respect the guy and he's given me enough laughs over the years.

Re: AVGN: The Movie
It was very enjoyable. There was cheese, there was nerd cursing, and there was more plot than I was expecting (as I only watched 1 early trailer). None of it overstayed its welcome. There were things that were higher quality/budget than I was expecting, and there were things that were low budget that got played for laughs and weren't taken too seriously. There were some expected cameos and a few that weren't. It was crafted with love and at no point was I checking the time or even wondering how far in things were. Watching it in a theater full of fans was obviously optimal but watching on the couch with friends will still be a good time.
James and company did good and should be proud of themselves.

Yes. I'm no fanatic, but I've probably seen most if not all of the AVGN videos as well as watching other things on Cinemassacre.

Very excited to get the dvd/digital download when its available. My Wife and I were gonna get tickets for the showing in San Francisco, but had no idea that they would sell out so fast, by the time we realized it, it was too late. Glad to hear that it is good, totally wish I could see it in a theater full of fans.

Re: AVGN: The Movie
I just attended the earlier Toronto screening. As a disclaimer, i'll say that I had no expectations going in, and watched no trailers. I enjoy the AVGN but wouldn't say i'm a huge fan, in fact most of the potty humour in his videos doesn't do it for me, what I like is when he turns that off and just reviews the games.
With that being said, the movie was awesome. Hobie's review was pretty spot on. It was a lot higher budget than I expected, whilst still being what you would call a "B" movie. James' writing partner, Kevin Finn, was there to give a bit of insight into the production, and he joked that there was more visual effects in this film than in Iron Man 3, and while it was in jest, he may actually be right, haha, there are a LOT of super cool visual effects in this movie. It's no holds barred. The plot, while obviously not oscar worthy, is actually pretty substantial. There are cheesy parts (intentional), there are epic parts, and there are a lot of cameos. Also to my surprise, even though I don't typically enjoy the humour side of the AVGN videos, I found myself laughing quite a lot in the film, he really upped his comedy game for this feature.
It wasn't perfect, there are some awkward scenes, some awkward dialogue and acting, but it doesn't stay long enough to ruin the film, and it's kind of to be expected considering the budget. All in all it really was a terrific film and i'll be buying it digitally once it's available to do so. At the end I really felt proud for James and his team, you could tell it was a dream of his accomplished and it showed. This film really belongs a spot on any gamers shelf.
For anyone who even remotely enjoys AVGN's videos, i'd say this one is worth giving a shot. With respect to James; This film was not a fuck load of some shit

Glad to hear good things about the film.
It seems like James worked on it for a long while so it's heartening that it paid off in the end. I'll watch it when I get the chance.

So, how many guys have you seen the film?
I think it's funny, nothing special, but an okay movie. I like AVGN, but I'm no huge fan, although I know the lyrics of the theme
