Great video as always. Some of those genesis were nuts with how many things they were trying to push all at once... really seems like some developers were all about using everything they possibly could as part of what I would call "the graphics wars" of the 16bit era.

Very surprised not to see Donkey Kong Country in that video, that's the first game that came to mind for me. All hardware driven too like that game you showed on the Genesis (Red Zone), with absolutely no enhancement chips.

It's not a good game exactly, but Asterix and Obelix XXL for the GBA is very impressive in what it achieves - a 3D platformer on the GBA.

There's nothing special about DKC. All of the graphics were prerendered on SGI machines. They're just exported frames of animation that are no different than if they had been hand drawings scanned in and cleaned up or drawn 1 pixel at a time in MS Paint and moved over. The SNES does no amazing anything.

Left in North America - Game Sack

Post by Redifer »

Now it's time to discuss some of the games North America kept for itself.

When I saw the title of this video I immediately thought of Run Saber and Metal Warriors, was shocked that you didn't mention those.

Well we've talked about Metal Warriors before in our Multiplayer episode and Run Saber was also released in Europe.

Interesting, I didn't realize that the GI Joe games were US only. That does seem really odd being Taxan and Capcom games.

I'm surprised that they didn't releae GI-Joe under another name internationally. Looks like a well-made game. If they had re-titled this game something generic like, "action force team go!" it might have sold well enough overseas.
