Disgaea 4 is a definite for me. Akiba'STRIP is a maybe. Same with Neptunia. The Swapper is a definite for me. I have it on Steam, but it'd be nice on the go. Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds is a definite buy as well. Trying to think of what else is coming this month. Hmm.Exhuminator wrote:Depends on the manufacturer, and we are really taking this thread out into the weeds.dsheinem wrote:isn't that true for almost all companies who manufacture products with proprietary batteries?
To get back on topic here are some Vita games releasing this month:
Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed 8/12
Disgaea 4 8/12
Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth 8/26
I only plan to buy all of them.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
How is Disgaea 4 for somebody who has never played the series?
Anybody have experience with the Vita version of Dynasty Warriors 8?

Awesome if you like extremely repetitive games that take 100 hours to complete.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:How is Disgaea 4 for somebody who has never played the series?
Re: Playstation Vita thread
hmm? The main story in Disgaea 3 isn't that long. Maybe 20 hours there. I doubt it is that long in Disgaea 4.

I have a love-hate relationship with Disgaea.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Awesome if you like extremely repetitive games that take 100 hours to complete.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:How is Disgaea 4 for somebody who has never played the series?
I enjoy the gameplay, the personality, and the all the different classes.
However, the implementation and execution can be flawed and frustrating. It is also really frustrating or overwhelming for gamers like me who like to build up varying classes and get some of the best weapons.
They aren't good for me if I want to play other games and really enjoy it. But, it would also be a good game for me if 'stuck on a desert island with only one game' type of thing where it offers lots of content.

Disgaeas are short RPGs considering the era they were released in, they just have the option to grind a lot.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Awesome if you like extremely repetitive games that take 100 hours to complete.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:How is Disgaea 4 for somebody who has never played the series?
Re: Playstation Vita thread
Yep. The main stories are nice and short. You can choose to grind and get to crazy high levels, but it is far from necessary.Violent By Design wrote: Disgaeas are short RPGs considering the era they were released in, they just have the option to grind a lot.
Finally up to trial #4 in Danganronpa. Will get that done after work. Hoping to finish the game this weekend. Then onto Disgaea 4 or Trails in the Sky.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
A lot of people rag on the Disgaea series saying they're all about grinding and you have to play a bajillion hours. The truth is, the main story is usually the same length as an average JRPG. For example, Disgaea 4 averages 37 hours on HLTB for its main campaign. The crazy amount of hours people put into this series and talk about doing, is for optional grindathons they choose to do voluntarily. It's not required by the games to just finish the actual story modes.
In other news I would have bought Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment if it got a physical release. But why the hell would anyone publish such a thing...
In better news, here's an updated Vita release schedule of games I think actually matter:
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 8/26
Danganronpa 2 9/2
Natural Doctrine 9/26
Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! 9/30
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus 9/30
Walking Dead Season 2 10/21
Freedom Wars 10/28
I can't wait for Natural Doctrine. Hardcore overly complex fantasy SRPG with obtuse mechanics? I NEED IT INSIDE ME

Re: Playstation Vita thread
Interested in most of those. Gonna wait for reviews on Natural Doctrine and Freedom Wars. But Neptunia, Danganronpa 2, Senran Kagura, and TWD s2 are all likely purchases. Danganronpa 2 being at the top for me. Arcana Heart I'll likely just get on PS3 unless there's some deep story mode like BB added. Then I may get it on Vita too.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
In case anyone cares, it seems that the first Danganronpa is out of print. Amazon no longer carries it themselves, which means that the price will creep up especially with the sequel coming out next month.
