I'm trying to beat NES Punch Out! right now. DAMN YOU BALD BULL! Though I did figure out online that there's a single camera in the crowd that flashes and shows you when to counter his charge, so that's nice at least.

It's a really fun game up until this starts happening:

Good luck, you will need it.

I prefer the SNES version myself.

Yeah, the Super Famicom version is one of the toughest games in the classic series on its own (especially if you play as Mega Man since the level design is pretty badly biased towards Bass) but then they went and cropped the screen.

Maybe something like this will help your Mega Man and Bass dilemma.

Yup. Although it gets a lot tougher later on with Bass too I thought, since his buster does nowhere near as much damage as Megaman's. He's got the double jump and can fire in different angles, but yeah.

Then, it's just really hard to maneuver Megaman in comparison. Against the level design and the massive bosses.

I think it blows MM7-8 out of the water and wish it was localized (SNES version), so could have gotten it on more compilations. It's brutal, but I love it.

Never knew about the camera flash.

Sometimes I'll close my eyes and listen for the "dooka-da, dookah-da, dooka-da" and then pres punch.

Played Contra for on the DS last night. This is the first time I've ever played a DS, so I'm still getting used to it.

Yup, it's literally about 1 or two pixels big, so it's easy to overlook. And I'm honestly having an easier time listening to it rather than watching for that one tiny flash.

I'm playing through a bunch of different games lately, bouncing between them based on which genre I feel like at the moment. I usually switch when I finish a chapter or or two, or get some new high scores, depending on genre. I have gamer ADHD.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ (need more S rankings!)
Planescape: Torment
The Secret of Monkey Island
Pinball Arcade
Valdis Story: Abyssal City
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
The Wolf Among Us
Mass Effect
Dust: An Elysian Tale
Redline
Armed Seven
Revolver 360 Re:actor
World Rally Fever
Harvester

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow... I've had that one on the shelf for awhile now, been thinking of maybe finally trying it out soon. Hmm...
