Do the kids who eat flintstones gummies or the pebbles cereal actually know who the flintstones are or anything? (seriously wondering this after watching the gummy vitamin commercial ha ha)

Think I'm going to purge about half of my CD collection.

I don't collect CDs in the same way I collect video games... And I have so many discs I haven't listened to since college. Not to mention those I've listened to once, said "meh", and then tossed on the shelf to never be touched again.

I can understand this. I followed aaron's advice and got Spotify...and now I have little need for my CDs beyond a backup for if my phone is dead or something.

If that's what you feel the need to do, then so be it. You going to list here, or just unload locally?

Am I allowed to list 'em on BST here? If so, I shall. Local record stores seem to be buying less and less from sellers lately. Lack of inventory space + they don't want things that are gonna sit and collect dust for years either. I'd probably get 25-50 cents per CD at my local shop, so I'd rather sell online.

I'm not familiar with Spotify but I have become a digital music junkie myself. Since 2010 or so I've only purchased about 5 CDs per year, and even when I do I typically just rip them to iTunes and use the actual discs as backup.

Yeah, several other folks on here have sold music CDs via the BST. I don't know how successful you'll be though, considering I expect your collection is mostly comprised of black metal.

For years I didn't purchase CDs at all, and then when I got this job, I had a brief renaissance in the novelty of it...and now that has passed. Spotify has been ok, with about 95% of what I want being on there(sadly no Sodom's M-16). I use an Android phone and was never much of a Mac user, so I can't say how well iTunes works with my setup.

Whoa. That's not bad. Usually you're lucky to get 50 cents for a used DVD.

And the unholy Racketboy hordes want to buy some black metal, right?

Seriously though, I like black metal... So I'm keeping all the black metal. What I'm dumping is mostly punk/metalcore/emo. I'll have it all listed in a couple of weeks, it's all in boxes now.

My taste in music tends to be on the obscure (but not too obscure) side (ie: low print runs). So whatever I sell to the shops can be flipped and resold like $5 or so.

But yeah, good luck selling any mass-produced 90s/00s-era pop/rock to these shops. The other week my wife had me bring in a bunch of Korn/Limp Bizkit/Marilyn Manson type CDs. The clerk looked at me and said, "Bro, if you want to get rid of this stuff you're going to just have to donate it." I think they end up selling those CDs for 97 cents a pop.
