I need to burn Saturn games to CD-R. I have Memorex CD-R 52x, 700MB discs. I am using Nero 7, and Disc Juggler. I need to burn these Saturn ISO at 4x. Both Nero and Disc Juggler show a minimum write speed of 16x. I've checked the options of both programs in hopes to see if there was a way to lower the write speed but there are no options listed for it. Does this mean the CD Drive itself doesn't support lower write speeds? Or is it the CD-Rs??? I mean, I can burn CD-RWs at 4x but not CD-Rs... I need someone to give me an answer. I've been trying to figure this issue out for like 2 weeks now and I'm really pissed off. There always seems to be some issue.
All I need to do is Burn at 4x....
CD Burner will not burn less than 16x.
Re: CD Burner will not burn less than 16x.
I have two burners and the older one lets me burn at 4X and the new one doesn't. 16X I think is the lowest the new one will go. So short is yes its your burner.
Re: CD Burner will not burn less than 16x.
You know, almost all the Saturn ISOs I've burnt work just fine burned at higher speeds than 4x. I think if you have a good burner and good CDRs there shouldn't be a problem.

Re: CD Burner will not burn less than 16x.
Then why is it that when I burn a fully working ISO on to CD-R at 16x not loading or freezing on my Saturn system, but when I pop the CD in my PC drive I can run it smoothly on my SF emulator? There's nothing wrong with my Saturn either, it's in really great working condition and I can play original games on it. And these are really good working ISOsmarurun wrote:You know, almost all the Saturn ISOs I've burnt work just fine burned at higher speeds than 4x. Re: CD Burner will not burn less than 16x.
It might still be the CDR media or the burner, or your Saturn laser might be just a hair out of adjustment. Keep in mind that PC CD drives generally have really strong read lasers and can usually read even the worst CDRs. The Saturn, however, was not designed with CDRs in mind, so it may have trouble reading CDRs that are inadequate or were burned by drives that are more error prone and whatnot.
Like I said, I'm running burns burned at higher speeds just fine. Sometimes 4X burning is necessary for a difficult title, but again, it depends on all the other pieces of the equation.

Re: CD Burner will not burn less than 16x.
I was using a model 1 Saturn with the "Disc Swap" method and I now just got a model 2 and awaiting my mod chip in the mail... So maybe this has something to do with the disc swap method?...marurun wrote:It might still be the CDR media or the burner, or your Saturn laser might be just a hair out of adjustment.
