I just picked this game up complete because it wasn't much more than buying a cart only US copy, but that box art is just... why?

This is not the worst Master System box art by a long shot. In fact for the time it was released it was one of the better ones. Wonder Boy III's box art is even worse honestly.

But that face... that creepy cherub-ish face on that armored adult body as he gleefully kills someone. He's just so sadistically thrilled about it. It creeps me out.
