ah okay, so the same thing I'm playing on Steam. I feel like a lot of dudes are playing 16bit versions besides you, me and Frag, so I want to keep tabs. I think seeing others play what I'm playing might push me. Getting frustrated cuz I haven't made it out of the mines after 5 hrs.

EDIT: Well I made it out, only to be thrust back in...
Are there a ton of bosses in the mines or something?

not exactly. It just seems a big part of the game takes place there. Like you go there, get out and then go back to like find 3 relics or something? I'm not sure how I feel about that, like a bulk of the game is one dungeon?

I'll also be starting Oath by the end of the week hopefully. I'm about 1/4th of the way through the Genesis version of Ys III.

Genesis port is done!

The final boss is a pain in the ass in this version as well - and it takes an entirely different set of tactics to defeat him.

That's enough old-school Ys for one summer. Time for Felghana.

I have this for Super Famicom but haven't played it much so I'll probably throw my hat into the ring, probably once I finish Shenmue II. I've only fully played Ys seven, so I'm interested in exploring the older games. I'm on vacation for a couple weeks now so it's a good time to get into some games I've meant to finish.

Finally played a bit of Oath of PSP today. Played the Quarry enough to beat the second boss and get back to town.

Its definitely a lot easier than the Genesis version I'm familiar with, and the pace of the game is quicker for it. Not a complaint, just an observation.

Anyway, I'm enjoying it (no surprise) and I don't think it'll take long to complete.

Bugs the shit out of me that Adol doesn't talk in this version though. What was the point of that change? Having the narrator pop in the middle of a conversation just to say "Adol introduced himself" is annoying.

Played Oath for a bit last night. Got the soundtrack set to PC-88. I'm in the mines.

For those who are curious, my save files tell me it took 15 hours to complete the last time I played through it.

Finished the Ruins last night, and now I'm at where I was two years ago.
