Early sources are saying suicide by asphyxiation, after a period of depression and seeking help for drug abuse.

His publicist is not confirming a suicide but has issued a statement: “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

Yea I was searching to see if this was a hoax for like an hour, but damn it's on every channel now.

What a shame, that guy had many years of good comedy left in him. Drug abuse and depression seem to be the best unexpected demise in Hollywood

I'm absolutely crushed. He was extremely talented, and one of my favorite actors and comedians. My heart has sunk, I had no idea he was battling depression.

I loved him in Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, What Dreams May Come, Jumanji, Mrs. Doubtfire, Aladdin, and I'm sure much more.

This is really the first time I've been hit hard with the passing of an actor.
