Starbound's been abandoned? It was nowhere near as good as Terraria to begin with, but the fact it was ditched surprises me.flex wood wrote:Starbound and Stomping Ground come to mind. Yea the devs have been whining about people complaining about the game deleting posts and banning people in the forums, you know typical stuff like trying to blame 4chan for all the negative reviews.AmishSamurai wrote:Starbound's been abandoned? You know all the same stuff that happened with Comcept and Mighty No.9. Except they tried to blame all the negativity on sexist male gamers because the community manager was a feminist, which seeing as that is what most game blogs are writing about took off as truth instead of actually reporting on why people were upset and wanted refunds (there seeming to be little to no progress) and she was banning people from the backer forums because they criticized the game. Yea I am going to go ahead and say kickstarter is a huge problem for PC games right now too, but I kind of lump KS games with early access myself since you are putting money down on something that may never get to see the light of day.
They also haven't updated the game since April I believe.
Here's a good quick explanation on Starbound

Or is this all just a case of gamer entitlement?
Edit actually screw KS I just saw that they took down the KS for Areal (the "stalker" game). Hell even if it was a scam a didn't even care any chance at I new stalker is something I would throw money at.

I think a lot of developers get discouraged by the ruthless hating of the internet populous. I think if you're going to do early access, you need to never read your reviews directly and instead hire someone who can translate internet shit-on-everything-speak into English with constructive criticism.

I'm pretty sure that is what the community managers are supposed to do.Xeogred wrote:Would be the worst job ever.J T wrote:I think a lot of developers get discouraged by the ruthless hating of the internet populous. Also bold for poor Ubisoft.
Re: Annoying trends in PC gaming
Poor Ubisoft? They deserve a non-insignificant portion of what they get. Nobody deserves all of it, but they deserve some, and far more than most.
Re: Annoying trends in PC gaming
If you are talking about uplay, I agree. If you are referring to the whole kotaku witch hunt of them not having enough female protagonists, which is what I was thinking of when I made that post then no they honestly didn't deserve any of that. Playing as a female character in a video game isn't a civil right.marurun wrote:Poor Ubisoft? They deserve a non-insignificant portion of what they get. Re: Annoying trends in PC gaming
Uplay is a abomination and as far as PC launches go they are about as buggy as Bethesda releases on top of usually having pathetically broken Multiplayer
. Had pretty piss poor experiences with the Far Cry 3, and Watch Dog launches especially.

Re: Annoying trends in PC gaming
There is very little representation of female characters in video games, and it was more Ubisoft's attitude that adding women was this arduous task and not worth the effort. Because they can say "women are too hard to animate" but they'll still have prostitutes in the game, but can't make a generic female assassin.flex wood wrote:If you are talking about uplay, I agree.
