The true ending is always cool to get too. S&K has a much stronger finish, probably my favorite out of them all. Sonic 1 is good too though. Sonic 2 wears thin, has some annoying final levels, and I hate the final fight with no rings. Then while I love Sonic CD's last stages, the final boss is one of the biggest jokes out there. So underwhelming lol.
The final fight in Sonic 2 with 0 rings is annoying. It's why I never beat the game back when. But the final fight in Sonic 1 is also with 0 rings. Although, I guess it's a little easier than Sonic 2.
What's the deal with the emeralds and S3&K? I forget. I know there's two sets of emeralds, the ones from the Sonic 3 levels get you Super Sonic and the second set from the S&K levels get you Super Duper Sonic (or whatever). But do you have to get first 8 before reaching the first S&K level? Or can you get the bare minimum 8 spread across both games? IIRC, you need to have at least 8 to be Super Sonic to play the last stage. Right? I mentioned before, I only realized a short time ago that you can put Sonic 3 and S&K together for the one massive game. So I've only ever beat S&K once.
You need to collect all 7 emeralds then activate all 7 super emeralds to get the good ending (and be able to turn into super Sonic after the Sonic 3 portion of the game ends).
Edit: If you get the first 7 emeralds you can get the standard okay ending. If you fail to collect those you just get the bad ending.

@ alienjesus: What version of MGS3 are you playing? The original version on the PS2 had that locked camera, and I couldn't imagine ever playing that game like that. The Subsistence version had the free roaming camera, as well as all other later releases of the game AFAIK.
The Vita version, which despite being named 'Snake Eater' I think has the controllable camera from Subsistence.

OKay, that's what it was. The one time I beat S3&K, I definitely only got the first 7 and failed to get the second 7.
But am I right about the halfway mark? Like, let's say I only get 6 or less and reach the first S&K level, am I from then on doomed to the bad ending?

Usually i dont list game i beat before but i though it would be a good way to keep track on how i spend my gaming time.
Si the first time i played bioshock you could say i played it "wrong" since i just leave te giant arrow show me every objective and the game turned more linear than already is. Now i turned it off and went all the exploration i could tolerate, i explore it all... every inch of Rapture, and make sure to save all the little sisters this time. Also i set the difficulty to hard but the game didn't felt hard i went full ammo and health items on the final boss.
I get to enjoy the game more this time around thanks to those changes. Still the ending is not satisfying ad i wish the game limmit you a bit more in the combat. What i mean with that is in system shock 2 you should pick one way of combat guns or psychic powers and since every enemy you find could kill you in a few hits every battle was intense and were more scarse. Still that just nipick from me, the game still great and even when there's combat on every corner the constant use of different weapons. the plasmids and the exploration made me enjoy the game a lot... im a bit scared since i heard infinite made the game more linear, you can only use two guns and even removed the different types of ammo.
I think im going to start infinite the next weekend. I really want to get into it to see how the series evolve.

In fairness, I should mention that I played it on hard mode. That said. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! has some of the cheapest, most obnoxious and sadistic level designs I've ever seen, made more obnoxious by the game's absolutely horrid control scheme
If you've never played an Oddworld game, try Oddworld Munch's Odyssee HD. It's far better than this crap. This game hasn't aged well and is far worse than I remember. Wish I had my nostalgia goggles for this one.
Despite its cutesy exterior, this is one of the most mean spirited games I've ever played.

That surprises the crap out of me... I have to say Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (the original on the Playstation) is one of my most favorite games ever that I also only just played for the first time a year and a half ago. I thought everything about it was great from the abilities to control the enemies with the chant, to saving the modukons, riding the animalsl, baiting enemies with objects; just so many great gameplay mechanics for solving the puzzles packed in there, and not to mention the art and atmosphere of it all. And that's just listing some of the things I love about it. Maybe the remake changed things? What other cinematic platformers have you played that you think bests this?
For the record I don't think playing a sub-standard 3D platformer is a good entry point to what the series is all about.
