Let's see! :)

Good. Though it also means I have to find something that fits on the board.

Most likely.

And 4pin-versions actually *do* exist! Check this out:

Alas, gone with the wheel. If I use small pliers and try to turn, nothing happens. This is just a shaft to keep the wheel on the pot. :(

It's funny, when I used a bigger plier and accidentally got two contacts with the pot, I could change the brightness and see a picture - which means the LCD is still fine!

But I certainly need (at least) another wheel to make this work again.

The values of this pot are no secret - 47kOhm. :)

Id honestly say go with an upgraded lcd. The old screens are so bad anyway that it probably isnt worth messing with this issue.

I meant take measurements, as in millimeters, to find a replacement that physically fits. But...

...this sounds like a better idea.

Today I replaced the four capacitators on the faulty board with new ones. Pretty easy replacement, no problemo.

Unfortunately, it's still not working. :(

Not trying to make a shameless plug or anything, but I was always looking for a nomad locally so I can get it modded this way:

Same idea here. ;)

But to be honest, if I have two Nomads to choose from, I want one (most likely the one in better condition) in original condition and one modded.

Addendum (long overdue):

- I replaced the faulty potentiometer on the one Nomad with one from a Game Gear. Perfect match and works properly!
-> Confirming that it is the exact same poti.

- Next I got me a (cheap) bunch of 3-pin potentiometers and managed to replace the faulty ones on a Nomad AND a Game Gear. You have to do some bending to fit the contacts of the poti in the "proper" holes of the pcb.
-> Confirming that the screen brightness is controlled by a three pin-poti @ 50 kOhm.

- No update on the (possible) VRAM-issue. Advice would be appreciated!
