Just got a SMS
Just got a SMS
Just picked up a SMS with cables and Phantasy Star at Goodwill today for 30 bucks. Wondering if ebay is the best place to pick up games? I like RPGs but would like to get into platformers again. Any suggestions?

Congratulations. I just got one last year and i haven't used it nearly enough yet. I also got Phantasy Star and I plan on playing through it this year.
I got a lot of my games from 3rd party sellers on Amazon.

The Master System is pretty flush with platformers. Both the Mickey Mouse games are heaps of fun (don't be fooled by the cutesy theme - they're tough). I found Lucky Dime Caper (Donald Duck) to be fun but way too easy.fox099 wrote:I like RPGs but would like to get into platformers again. Any suggestions?
There's all the Alex Kidd games. Shinobi world is my favourite:

If you like RPGs, and specifically Zelda games, grab Golden Axe Warrior and Golvellius:

Re: Just got a SMS
Yeah, both eBay and Amazon are great for picking up games.
I'd recommend Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Zillion, Shinobi, Psycho Fox (so I hear), SpellCaster, and Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap for platformers. Phantasy Star is the best RPG of the 8-Bit Generation, but Golvellius, Y's, and Golden Axe Warrior are all great Zelda-style RPGs, and Miracle Warriors is another turn-based RPG for the system... but it's OLD school. R-Type and Fantasy Zone (I recommend Fantasy Zone II) are great shooters, though that isn't what you asked for.
If you're looking for platformers, Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Wonder Boy III are essentials.

I'd recommend you use a Genesis controller before you go insane with the SMS d-pad. It's the only d-pad that's WORSE than the 360 d-pad.
