I have been flung off of ledges roughly 10 times randomly and without reason....stupid game.
Against all odds Sonic '06 manages to magnify all of the problems you've mentioned while adding more. It's a masterpiece of bad. It's the Battlefield Earth of video games.

Heroes got 6's and 7's upon release... I never liked the gameplay myself, but it was as technically competent as the Adventure games (ie, pretty glitchy but fully playable) with nice sharp colorful graphics and a decent soundtrack. Sonic '06 has far worse gameplay with far more glitches, bland, empty graphics, and

That can not be possible. In Sonic 06, can one of your teammates randomly get flung through the air, taking you with them by some strange invisible bungee chord? From what I see of Sonic 06, it is just a more glitchy sonic adventure. I will have to play it (and I will...mark my words), but I can not see it comparing to Sonic Heroes, which is seriously unplayable. I can not tell you how many times I have jumped straight into the air and then be wildly flung into the abyss, or ride a rail, only to randomly reverse my path and then fall through the rail into the abyss, or get hit by an enemy and then suddenly be chain hit off a cliff without any control of my character. Or be in a pinball machine and have the flippers somehow shoot me off the board into the abyss or have the flying mechanic just not work, or have attacks that make your character stop and do a 15 second animation as the boss moves off into the distance etc.

Not only that, but they tell you, "Hey use this move against the boss," and it literally does nothing. I just ignore the tips and do it a different way, which ends up being more helpful. Sorry Cream the Rabbit, but your shock attack doesn't do shit against anything so stop telling me to do it or so help me god we are not going to reunite you with your food-named friend goddammit!!!

huff...puff.....ok....I think I'm good.

I've been playing Titan Fall and Forza 5 quite a bit. Both games are super fun. And I'm slow burning Watch_Dogs. Which is also fun and IMO, undeserving of all the hate it seems to get.

I am putting Sonic Heroes on the backburner for a while and playing lots of Ultra Street Fighter IV on the PC. Enjoying it a lot. The new characters are very different and take some getting used to, but overall I like it!

Put about 2 hours into this last night:

It's alright. I might finish it tonight if I'm not too tired. It's kind of an action-RPG, but it's way more action than RPG. Biggest strength I'd say is the OST. Check out some of these snazzy tunes:

I just can't stop smirking at "Crystal Beans" though, the written name. I mean the developers must have just thought it was genius or something. You constantly see the title as you play:

Don't be hatin' on dem krystly beanz.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

You have no idea. It's not Sonic Adventure only glitchier. It is an unfinished and completely broken mess. It's unbelievable that anyone thought it was OK to release. It's like they realized they could get away putting out any kind of garbage after Sonic Heroes and decided to test their theory by releasing a game in its alpha stages.

Just... just never play '06. Just keep imagining whatever it is in your head.

Don't do it.

You don't know what you're saying.

You'll die.

Is it even worth a poke just to see how godawful it is? For the LULZ or something. I'll admit I'm slightly intrigued by the game, although I don't want it to kill me.

On topic, as well as the many games I've beaten recently I have been playing Forza 4 intermittently for about 9 months. The career mode is truly gigantic. Every new class bumps up the amount of races needed to qualify for the next class, the length of each track and the amount of laps in each race. It's a monolithic slab of a game. I'm at year six of ten and that's less than 5% of the entire game!

As much as I love the Forza series, it got me thinking that sometimes games can offer too much content, to the point it becomes off putting and incoherent. Anyone else feel ever felt that way?

I feel this way quite often, and I have learned to appreciate shorter games.

Before I made gaming my primary hobby, I would play fewer "long-form" games a year over a longer period. Things like the career mode in Pro Evolution Soccer or a Civ game set to marathon and my brother put in over 2000 hours of track time in Gran Turismo 4, so I can, or rather did, see the appeal. But now, it just feels a bit impenetrable. Possibly why I'm not so cool with MMORPG's. Same few tasks, endlessly repeated.

This was touched on in the Rip-offs thread that I feel the rush to provide maximum content, especially in racing/sports games, has pushed out the possibility for games like Out Run or The Next Glory to be made.

Then again, I guess the FIFA's and Forza's cater for a much more general audience so that's to be expected. Still a shame though.
