About time amazon started getting their act together. It has been a good lesson never to trust a preorder as a pre-promise to have anything immediately. I had that happen years ago at local retail and haven't bothered since on anything that matters.

Of course, as I said earlier, just yesterday I hooked up my SNES and Genesis in my new house anticipating that it would take forever for the R5 to get here.

For anyone interested: finally got a chance to bust out my SNES super multitap today and give it a test w/ NBA Jam. Happy to report it worked like a charm, so owners of Secret of Mana, the Peace Keepers, Saturday Night Slammasters, etc are in business

Bone -- Yup, just find a cheap one (1 or 2GB) as the updates are very small. Hell if you have an old 512MB SD card lying around that would cut it fine too.

When you get it, odds are, it's still on v1.0 (firmware for games), and 0.20(firmware for system.) They're crap and bug ridden. 0.22 is quite a bit more stable, and 1.5 firmware for the games gets almost everything right as the list of stuff that fails or fouls up has shrink heavily.

Also I'd suggest looking back on this thread or a companion one up on Digital Press I post in, as the retron tech gave me a specially patched firmware (0.22 patched) that cuts the start up (hold power down to start) from 5sec to 0.5sec. It sucked having to hold that button so long.

I was very close to being a member of the Amazon camp as well. Since it was sold out when I tried to preorder from them in November, someone mentioned here that Newegg had them too, and once I could preorder from them, I did.

They're up all around, even some flea markets and garage sales are getting sleazy like that. It's the Nintendo effect mainly, the Sega and other stuff is mostly just cheap still, but it's what the predators want since Nintendo is still alive. Best bet buy in bulk, or buy to flip, or sell stuff you're disinterested in going forward.
