Amazingly, we might actually have those one day.

After sitting behind a bike for an hour yesterday on a fairly major country road only for him to not stop at a stop sign and blow through an intersection causing a wreck, I am of the belief that it should be bike lanes or sidewalk only. The bulk of my ride had a sidewalk, and solid traffic going the other way, but we puzted along at sub 20mph because of the cyclist.

I love to bicycle; I always take the backroads or the sidewalks (or even go offroads). It's just safer that way.

Yes and no. People driving on less busy roads can sometimes lull themselves into being distracted. The one time I was hit on my bike was on a quieter side road. The lady was turning from a residential street onto this road and didn't even look my way. She stopped, looked the other way, then proceeded to hit me as I rode past her with the right of way. She gave me a bruise on my calf and some scratches on my bike, I left her a death stare and a dent in her hood from my handlebar.

One day I doubt we'll ever see. I smell a bet.

I should have sought a patent when I was a kid. The "Lukedeloop".

I like to think you researched this carefully when trying to decide if you wanted a team of mules or a tractor.
Two years ago we had all five of our tractors down so while my girlfriend at the time and her father worked on fixing the B, I cut it with mules, an umbrella, and a radio.

It looks like this:

I was also carrying a large knife to cut any snakes that landed on the cart with me. Thankfully, that did not happen.

This is what it looks like usually:

Those don't look like mules. Also, what does farm equipment have to do with transportation? No one here is suggesting that farmers should stop using tractors. We're talking about giving up our cars for public transportation or bicycling.

On the other hand, if you said, "It is unfeasible for me to live without a pickup truck, as I must transport supplies to and from my farm," I would tip my hat and concede the point to you.

Where I live, the amount of trouble that comes up between farmers in tractors or combines against cyclists is astounding. Believe it or not, for some reason my area is considered great for riding cycles, even though where I live there isn't any respect for the speed limit. Its interesting to say the least.

Sometimes I love the stupidity of my country

Seriously, with how big the sidewalks are in American cities, I don't see why they can't add bike lanes on the side of the street.
 I think the tree might win. At least in that area of Greece the bikers are kept to the sidewalks, certainly is safer for everybody except for the tree. :D

That is not my picture, I should have specified. And I did state earlier that I did need my vehicles for my farm. The second post of the topic infact. Hobie asked for clarification about my offhand comment about why we use tractors over mules.

And many people believe we should not use tractors. The common belief in the homesteading movement is that animals are a better investment than tractors because they are "better for the environment" which goes in long with the tone that General Norris stated in the opening comment:
General Norris wrote:One fifth of all CO2 emissions are made by cars and it's one of the key causes of rising obesity rates
Was it a bit off topic, maybe, but I feel it is a justified sidetopic.
