That sucks. You would think that someone would keep you in the loop as to when you might possibly get it.

TEST Build time! This one specifically at the least addresses the problem of the SRAM/FeRAM issue with the GBA. "Here's a test build which will hopefully fix the save issue once and for all. Please beware that at this stage we have not confirmed anything, so ONLY use with games where you dont mind if the save is lost! I really hope that we've nailed it this time.."

"Also if you are aware of anyone else in the same position as yourself, having experienced erased saves and would likely be willing to help test this, please feel free to forward it on."
That's the file and the direct quote, not sure what else could have been touched or not, guess that will be up to experimentation since it's not listed on the link provided, only that it's a private test build.
I have not loaded this myself at this time. I'm still on the clock for another 90min, but I may just set it up while I'm working to save time. Also, if anyone is having any graphical errors with GBA games please let me know. GTA has one they didn't see on their end, maybe they don't have the game, so I'll be taking a screen cap and sending him that once I can. If you have something, please add it to the thread.

My experience with the new test firmware -- tried it on my most notorious game to save, if at all, Konami Krazy Racers.
My cart was wiped so I did a series of tests on it. I had a save state for this game on the Retron 5's internal storage.
Test 1 - Take that file from the save state and write it back to cartridge, this was what I had trouble doing before this new test build.
Result: PASS. The file was saved to my cartridge, tested on GBA SP.
Test 2 - Wipe all traces of this game off the Retron 5's internal storage. Transfer new save file on cartridge to Retron 5.
Result: PASS. Save transferred succesfully.
Test 3 - With the save file now on both the cartridge and the unit, play a little bit more to save new progess to Retron 5, and transfer that new progress to the cartridge when finished.
Result: PASS. New progress made it to the cartridge on the GBA SP.
Test 4 - Wipe the new save data again from the Retron 5's internal storage, and transfer the save file with the new progress back to the Retron 5.
Result: PASS. Both the cartridge and the unit now have the brand new save file.
If it worked on this game I've had trouble saving to and from the cartridge AND the Retron 5, then I think we have ourselves a winner. Thanks to you for the file and Hyperkin for finally getting it all done.

I forwarded those results, and you got a question back.
"so just to confirm, your contact with Krazy Racers would previously lose his save every time and with the new firmware, it is stable and without problems?"
"Also, can you ask if he ever lost the save by simply inserting the cartridge into Retron? If so, is this also now stable?"
I had this happen before some weeks ago, ate a save of mine alive with the SRAM/FeRAM style saves which sucks.

Yeah I have 3 total SFC games now. My only complaint is I wish the title sticker wrapped around to the top of the cart (ala SNES) instead of just the front.foxhound1022 wrote:I have like 30 or so SFC games, but I wanna get some of the pricier ones like Undercover Cops, and Ninja Warriors Again. Sadly, I only have 2 Famicom games.graffix_13 wrote:Yep, I've already starting tapping that vein.foxhound1022 wrote:...possibly start buying more FC and SFC games.

Same here. When did you put your pre-order in? I double checked with my gf to see when she put mine in and it was early this year, like February. I should have put it in earlier, but shoulda, woulda, coulda.jinx wrote:Haven't posted in a while...

It's a bummer because I was setting up my Genesis and SNES in my new house last night thinking "I wouldn't have to do this if my Retron 5 was actually here..."

Yes, everything is OK now. I did lose the save before this update, but I turned off the auto-copy feature because of that. But, the last time I tried moving the save and it didn't work, I did it manually through the "Copy Save To Retron" feature in the Settings menu.Tanooki wrote:I forwarded those results, and you got a question back.

Test #4 yesterday indicated that I can now copy this SRAM save to the Retron 5 (still manually) and not lose the file on the cartridge.

Put my pre-order in early April, just before they jacked the price up. I thought I had already ordered it while I was in Houston, but I guess not...
