Wow, I guess I really don't care much for comic book heroes. I've never played any of these games, except for the ones in the arcades. I don't think I can name 5 Marvel games I've even played.
Let's see...
Punisher (NES)
Marvel VS Capcom (Arcade)
X-Men (Arcade)
Captain America (Arcade, "You will be the one escaping!")
...and that's all I can think of.

Good quote, but this one was much better.J T wrote:Captain America (Arcade, "You will be the one escaping!")

No love for Captain America and the Avengers on NES? Such an underrated game.
War of The Gems also was stellar.

I played that on the NES, but admittedly I got stuck on it about halfway through.Luke wrote:No love for Captain America and the Avengers on NES? Such an underrated game.

Iron Man was my favorite comic book hero as a kid so imagine how pissed I was when I got this game and it was actually "Captain America and Hawkeye."Luke wrote:No love for Captain America and the Avengers on NES? Such an underrated game.
To add insult to injury the main villain was the Mandarin, Iron Man's arch nemesis.
That said, it's alright. There are a few frustrating elements that keep it from being great like the way it handles characters dying until you get the Quinjet. I'd agree it's an overlooked game.
Re: Rate Your Top Ten Favorite Marvel Related Video Games
I haven't seen much mention of it, but The Punisher (2005) for the original Xbox and PS2 is pretty overlooked (and pretty awesome).

In no order:
X-Men (Genesis)
Maximum Carnage
MvsC2
Cap & The Avengers
Spiderman vs Kingpin
Unfortunately as much as I like fighting games I've barely played X-Men vs SF or Marvel Super Heroes so I can't count them though I'm sure they'd be on here.
What is the general consensus on those Marvel Ultimate Alliance games? Never played them

Ultimate Alliance 1 has a really good plot that takes you all across the Marvel Universe and beyond featuring a ton of Marvel baddies and goodies. It plays like Baldurs Gate: Alliance or more recently the console Diablo 3 games. However, even on 360 the graphics are last-gen and there is no Hulk. There's also some DLC shenanigans that you can't download anymore and a load of characters are platform specific.Snatch1414 wrote: What is the general consensus on those Marvel Ultimate Alliance games? Ultimate Alliance 2 has much better graphics a more diverse roster and the ability to play as some villains like Green Goblin and Venom. It has a much more focused but weaker plotline based on the Civil War crossover. Annoyingly it means that some characters become unplayable depending on which side you choose. Not that it matters that much: Hulk, Songbird and Human Torch are massively overpowered to the point it's not funny. There is also some DLC bullshit but it can be bypassed with cheat codes. Online as well.
/The Marvel fan will appreciate Ultimate Alliance 1 over its sequel but they're both fun games.

I really enjoyed the old-school arcade beat'em ups the most:
Captain America and the Avengers
X-men
Spiderman
The Marvel vs Capcom series is really excellent as was Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
