Spoiler alert: So does Tommy Wiseau, but THE ROOM is hilarious.

Spoiler alert: So does Bob Dylan, but the guy could write memorable music.

Spoiler alert; So does Godzilla, be he's been doing alright.

Spoiler alert. Chuck Norris, 'nuff said.

I wish people would put their bitch cards back in their collective wallet and understand that "Holy shit! Things can change?!?! No way!!!!!".

This movie is it's own thing. It's not trying to be the comic from 30 years ago.

Same mentality when THE DARK KNIGHT trailer dropped and people went gonzo at the new Joker design. You need to see the movie before giving a final judgement. Anything else is uncivilized.

Yeah I started off with the, "It ruined my childhood," argument, but I am gonna give it an honest try, because I love the Turtles. I did the same with the first Transformers, but was disappointed. I am worried and rightfully so, but I am not going to let it decide how the film is for myself.

Speaking of Hercules, the disney version was on earlier. It's ok but it's one of those post Aladdin ones where every other character is zany and it grates a bit. James Woods does make a decent Hades though. It's also pretty funny how Herc's origin is now more Superman the son of Zeus. I won't say I'm in love with it...heh heh heh.

Also on the topic of pointless reboots of long dead 80's franchises, Ghostbusters 3 is back on and may gender swap the lead roles.

Had the same reaction in 1988 when the cartoon debuted.

I think Hercules hit some good emotional moments, so I would give it a thumbs up for that. Definitely not one of Disney's best though, but far from bad. You're right though, Hades is great in that. I forget the girl's name, but I enjoyed her character too.

Another thumbs up got GotG. There was a moment where suspension of disbelief was stretched to breaking late in the film, but the rest of it is pretty good. There are lots of nice moments and sprinkled jokes inbetween the action bits.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy today.

I've been waiting so very long for Marvel Space. And it was delivered to me!
I'm super happy with the movie.
And the first scene was very hard for me to watch.

It very well could be J'Son like in the comics. Another theory thats been floating around is Loki. Long-lived alien, would be considered charming by some, a dick by others, and Loki knows ways in and out of Asgard without using the Bifrost. Which in MCU-canon would make him half-Jotun, which could be enough to tank an infinity stone.
GotG 2 speculation.
I'm calling Nova making an appearance (Nova Force is the Nova Corps harnessing the power stone they now have access to maybe?), Adam Warlock (We saw his cocoon in the postcredits scene of Thor 2, and him making an appearance is inevitable if we have Thanos on the scene), not familiar enough with cosmic-scale Marvel and "who Marvel has gotten the rights back for" to make any other guesses

Response:
I really don't think its J'Son. I think they're going a completely different route. There are some hints too.

Nova Prime (or whoever) tells him that they don't really know what species half his DNA is from, just that it's from an ancient precursory species similar to gods. This could mean Asgardian ... but they are unable to identify it specifically, and you can surmise they know who the Asgardians are.

Plus, Quill shows no super human abilities. He's weak compared to everyone else and utilizes tactics and weaponry. If he had Asgardian in him, this would likely not be the case.

If Loki was his dad, it wouldn't even be Asgardian, because Loki is not Asgardian, he's a Frost Giant. Another species, I would imagine Nova is aware of.

Thematically, MCU has already established many connections between Guardians and everything else. End of Thor 2, they give The Collector the Aether which is an Infinity Stone and now this flick was all about another Infinity Stone, which Nova now has ... as I assume Thanos will retake in Guardians 2 with the help of Nebula. I'm about 99.999% positive, Avengers 3 will be Thanos on Earth with the Gauntlet.

Introducing Adam Warlock before then, totally makes sense. And it is possible that the cocoon shown at the end of Thor 2 was him. (I don't know if that was confirmed, I think people just jumped to conclusions on that one)

The last hint is earlier in the movie, his mother describes his father as a man made of light from the stars. Now, the scene is played off like, she's slipping. But, as we learn later in the movie, half of what she said is 100% accurate. So it's possible the other half is 100% accurate as well. And so far, every time there's been something that could be interpreted multiple ways in these MCU flicks, they've gone down the literal path. So, personally, I'm thinking, maybe, personifications/embodiments.

To be honest, ultimately, I hope it's not a previously established character or even species in the MCU. That would feel like a way to close the loop, when Guardians of the Galaxy is so obviously there to expand the MCU drastically. It's a stepping stone to another level. Capping that off by making his father Asgardian ... or Loki a villain we've seen three times now, just doesn't make any sense.

Just to wrap it together: I don't think it's J'Son because they've stayed pretty close on interpretations of characters, so much as, what species they are and that species' standing. His species is nothing like what the clues given describe.

So I watched Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday and I thought the movie was a lot of fun, but it wasn't that good of a movie. Don't worry, I'm not gonna trash the film, because like I said, I very much enjoyed the film and it attempted to tackle a concept that, in all honesty, could not be tackled in a single film.

They tried to introduce you to the Universe and with that, a lot was lacking.
You know that two species of aliens are at war and signed a peace treaty, but why and over what is very ambiguous.
I felt that there was very little development of the characters outside of Star Lord and organizations like the Nova Corps seemed incredibly underdeveloped. I feel like a lot of this was catered fan service with the idea that the majority of people watching the film knew who these people were. The reality is, not a lot of people followed Guardians of the Galaxy, so it needed a little extra tender love and care in the pacing of the film.

Speaking of which, the film moves at such a rapid pace that it is hard to keep up.
The standard, "Characters get together, fight, break up, get back together," routine can be seen here, but done in a span of what seemed like minutes.
Whatever the case may be, I don't think it was possible to tackle all these problems in a single film. I still thought the movie was a blast and very witty and was filled with charm.

I love James Gunn's films and you can tell that his influences from Troma are present in some of the strange and oddball set pieces and performances. At times he walked the line of camp and charm and it worked great. One of my favorite films is the film Super, which I highly recommend to people as well..as the film is just spectacular in a deranged sort of way.

I say, go watch the film, have fun, but get ready for a poorly paced mass of information.
