Running With Rifles (and netWAR)

Post by General Chaos »

Well, thanks to some industrious Racketboy members I've made my way back to the forums and figure I'll start off by asking if anyone else here has been playing Running With Rifles? It's an isometric-ish shooter (super zoomed out) that to me feels a little bit like a combination between Cannon Fodder, General Chaos and a really old online top down shooter called netWAR, only you're part of a large dynamic battle where there are potentially hundreds of AI controlled soldiers, both allies and enemies.

Speaking of netWAR, has anyone here actually even heard of it? I can't even find much online about it and my brother always jokes with me that he thinks it wasn't really online. It came out in 1997 and didn't have any lag issues even with quite a few players all on dial up. It would just make me feel better if someone could confirm that this game existed and I don't have some very specific form of schizophrenia that's isolated to online action games from the late 90s.
