Is secret of mana worth playing?

I ran into an SNES with Secret of Mana lately. I had heard of this game before and knew it was valuable (which is why I bought it.) I was thinking about playing it before I sold it, but I don't know if it's worth investing the time into. Are there any Secret of Mana veterans around here? What can you tell me about the game?

Its a great game and can't recommend it enough. It has awesome art direction, Zelda like gameplay and a soundtrack that sticks in your head. The Japan only sequel is probably one of the best games released in the 16 bit era. It pushes the SFC to its limits. The ROM has been translated and easily found on the net.

Yes, I can recommend this game blindly. You'll have more fun if you can find 1 or 2 other people to help you towards the end.

The point has already been made, but it's a fantastic game that you can't really go wrong with.

I'll have to be the contrarian, then, and say I didn't hugely enjoy the game. It's OK and it starts strong, but about halfway through the game it gets tiresome leveling spells and weapons and later still the plot starts to drift. By the end of the game you sorta wonder how you got there from the beginning of the game, cause it sure as hell doesn't make a lot of sense.
