Re: The Breakfast Thread
Hell yeah! I put Tony Cachere's on my scrambled eggs. Never thought to try it w/ hard-boiled eggs.
Re: The Breakfast Thread
I like your second idea! We've done that with goat-&-cream-cheese-stuffed jalapeños before--amazing stuff.marurun wrote:I can fix that for you. Get some Tony Cachere's Cajun Seasoning and sprinkle a little on a small plate. Dip the hard boiled egg in it. Salty and spicy. Fixes that egg right up and simple as can be.TSTR wrote:I always find hard boiled eggs to be underwhelming in their basic form. Devil them or chop them up on a salad or sandwich and I'm cool, but otherwise I can take or leave 'em.
Alternately, wrap some sausage around it and deep fry it ; )
Re: The Breakfast Thread
I like to slice two hard boiled eggs and put it on buttered toast.
Some years back my friend was over and saw my egg slicer. She was like, "What is that?" She apparently NEVER seen an egg slicer before.

Did you play it like a harp for her? It's like nails on a chalkboard for some people.Ziggy587 wrote:She apparently NEVER seen an egg slicer before.
Adobo seasoning (mostly salt and cumin) is great on a hard boiled egg.
Fresh fruit for breakfast, but I do have a casual business meeting at 11am (wasn't my idea to have a meeting on Saturday) at a Bojangles, which isn't but a mile and a half from my house. Might have an early lunch/late double breakfast. I don't think you can count Bojangles as brunch.
Re: The Breakfast Thread
I can have a really dry humor. And I love to BS people and do it perfectly dead pan. I've gotten so good at it that when I string some one on long enough I wait for the "Really?" just so I can say, "No, not really." But this, I was just in such disbelief that she'd never seen an egg slicer, my mind was blown, I couldn't even.Luke wrote:Did you play it like a harp for her? To elaborate more on the scene... The slicer was out for some reason, I don't remember. I was either taking it out of the dishwasher or using it, whatever. When she saw it she said, "What is that?" I said, "An egg slicer..." Not only had she never seen one before, but she was kind of dumbfounded by it. Like she couldn't even fathom.
I fucking hate Adobo. It's mostly just salt. I have a salt, I don't need Adobo.Luke wrote:Adobo seasoning (mostly salt and cumin) is great on a hard boiled egg.
I like salt, but I hate when things are over salted. I don't seem to like as much salt on things as other people. But I really do like salt. Potato chips are a good example. I really like the "lightly salted" variants. You can taste the chip more. I hate Lays. I don't taste chip, I just taste salt. When I go to fast food chains (which I try not to make a habit of) I order my fries with no salt. This also gets you fresh fries every time, so there's also that.

Or make Eggs Benedict, aka my favorite breakfast ever. It's a tad pricey to make, but worth every penny.Hobie-wan wrote:You should try poached eggs on buttered toast.Ziggy587 wrote:I like to slice two hard boiled eggs and put it on buttered toast.
It goes by many names but "Cowboy Toast" is great. You take a shot glass and hollow out one circle of bread. Add a slab of butter to a pan, add the bread, and crack a raw egg to fill the hollowed circle. Toast, flip, and serve with Tabasco on top if you wish.
Go crazy if you want and add some fried bologna, Canadian bacon, "bacon bacon", or whatever you like.
"Cowboy Toast" was a staple for my drunk buddies during my college years. Was cheap, fed 'em, was quick, didn't make a mess, and put them to bed in a "quick hurry".
Re: The Breakfast Thread
I've had it once. The thing is, I don't like runny eggs. They gross me out. Wish that they didn't, but they do. That Eggs Benedict tasted great.Luke wrote:Or make Eggs Benedict
Now, a poached egg is you boil water and then crack an egg into it, right? I've actually never poached an egg before. Get back to me tonight and I might do that for breakfast tomorrow morning.Hobie-wan wrote:You should try poached eggs on buttered toast.Ziggy587 wrote:I like to slice two hard boiled eggs and put it on buttered toast.

A poached egg is the runniest of all, as it the yolk is meant to spill over.Ziggy587 wrote: Now, a poached egg is you boil water and then crack an egg into it, right? I've actually never poached an egg before. Get back to me tonight and I might do that for breakfast tomorrow morning.
